That should push Bregman up to triple A. Either way, nice to see us trying to get something going in the bottom 2/3rds of our lineup.
I like that the Astros seem to be giving their young prospects a chance. Why would you not with the way things are going? Hope Moran and Kemp are able to contribute.
that's the only thing that makes sense. Or a Valbuena trade, but it seems like that news would have broken already
I guess we need to see what Moran can do and we might as well do that while we have nothing at 3b and Bregman is still a little unseasoned. I think Bregman would be the bigger impact move though.
If Marwin is DL'ed, who will be the backup SS? I'm thinking Valbuena is toast. Which would be weird since he has hit better the last few games.
Didn't Valbuena just have a 5 RBI game? This has to be an injury situation... and with the team about to face a bunch of lefties, Valbuena would probably be sitting some as is.
There is no "backup", if Correa has to leave a game I'd imagine Valbuena or Kemp would fill in, hell, even Altuve.
Moran has been slumping lately and his walk rate is atrocious. Not sure he will be the answer but maybe he can fool some pitchers for a couple of weeks like White did. Hopefully he can have some success. We definitely need more people that make contact and he should be able to over time but I am not sure he is ready. Now or never though cause Bregman is on his heels.
Valbuena has played SS in the majors. He plays it poorly, but if something happens to Correa he can function as an emergency SS for a game. But realistically the only reason he would come out of a game is for injury. Given that Altuve and Correa never come out of the game, calling up a 3B who hits right handed would be the most logical replacement for Marwin. Moran is the best man for that job, I don't think this is an indicator of the team moving on from Valbuena just yet, but it could be the first steps if he grabs this opportunity. I imagine he will DH and play 1B more than he will play 3B.
Just checked, didn't even realize Moran was a lefty, but I still think this is more about fit and ability to help now than a he's our guy move.
Going up against a couple of lefties in this series and against the Rangers, so might be a good time to get him some ABs to get comfortable. Easier said than done though with Rodon and Sale this series against the ChiSox.
