In that context I was talking about kids needing role models so that they would know not to cite the constitution when trying to say that there should be no private sector consequences for foolish actions.

When it comes to role models speaking out against injustices....sure, if they are legitimate and they aren't doing it as a publicity stunt, then they'd be a decent role model. Unfortunately today too many people get sucked into "movements" that are illegitimate and fight for perceived injustices that aren't actually real.

Perhaps a role model to r****ded children who will grow up to burn down their city when someone gets shot by police while attacking them....but not a role model to anyone intelligent. I can see how you would think Kap would be a good role model.

Of course, to someone who ignores facts, studies, and statistics, Kap's protest is illegitimate. What's it like living in your own alternate reality?

That cartoon would have been posted a million times by all the liberals if he was taking any other stance. As it is, they all just scream first amendment and call people racist.

To anyone with at least half a functioning brain, Kap's protest is illegitimate....again though, I could see how someone like you might think that it is legit. He might as well be yelling "hands up, don't shoot" or "no justice, no peace". It's nothing more than the illegitimate protest of a b*stard raised in privilege.

I'm absolutely serious....though I understand the qualifier of "anyone with at least half a functioning brain" doesn't apply to everyone in the D&D

Well, he's essentially protesting that an armed black man was shot by a black police officer and claiming that's oppression (that being the most recent excuse for BLM types to riot in Kap's home town of Milwaukee). It's moronic....but it managed to keep him on an NFL roster a bit longer.

Saying that America "oppresses people" is fairly r****ded and it's sad that I have to even point that out.

We known YOU haven't faced oppression which is sad given your life accomplishments. Just a poor ol' uneducated enlisted fool who thinks he is an expert in sociology and poltical science. Stop projecting YOUR life experiences on to others.

IMO it's more about the way police have been killing unarmed people not just black americans. America has had a issue with oppression in the pass.

Even then, in those instances it has been when the cops have been attacked.....it's really stupid to think that is oppression. There's no question that America has had a problem with oppression in the past, but it's not the past. It's not 1950, it's not 1850, it's 2016 and what passes for "oppression" these days is just people attacking others and suffering consequences as a result.

One of the biggest problems that we have is people pushing narratives that are counter productive. People feeling like criminals represent them, that police are "out to get them". If you're not breaking the law, that's simply not the case....but you have a ton of people buy into that BS and it doesn't lead anywhere good.

On top of that, you have "the Furguson effect" that has led to a spike in violent crime....and you have a b*stard 1%er who spent his whole life raised in privledge that is taking advantage of the beliefs of stupid people.

You make a very valid point but there have been other things that have happen not just shooting tickets and harassment that has taking place that can be seen as oppression by police.I know personally of a couple of people that have had things happen to them when they were just minding there on business and the cops were jacking with them business man both black but up standing guys.

The GOP has had decades of dividing people by race though so they've had a head start with that.

I think the problem is that a lot of things that aren't actually oppression are seen as oppression which is ridiculous. If you get pulled over for breaking traffic laws, it's not oppression, it's that you broke the law. That seems to be the common thread in a lot of what is considered police misconduct. I'm not saying that there isn't legit police misconduct out there, I've had to deal with more than my share of bad cops in my life, but it seems like every time someone gets arrested or pulled over for doing something they shouldn't there will be people crying foul.

When there are so many bogus examples that are taken seriously, it damages the credibility of those pushing the narrative. At this point, there's been so many false alarms that those pushing the narrative have no credibility left to lose.

It's actually a shame because it's possible that legit examples are overlooked due to all the BS.

Kaepernick's words has already clarified that he is NOT Anti-America or Anti-Military. And the President of the country supports his 1st Amendment right. He probably back-pedaled under the scrutiny but still he clarified.

(You saw information out there that refute CK's position, but then ignore his clarification?)

    Overall
    - Is Kaepernick the "right" man for this job? NO. He's coming across like that fresh-in-college "enlightened" academic insufferable "realist".
    - Is Kaepernick immature about it? Yes. Again the socks were just dumb. And I think he's stacking too much on the progressive plate at one time
    - Is Kaepernick misguided (like how much of BLM is)? YES, simply.

    - Is it ANTI-America? No, mostly. Sloppy as his approach is, he has right to bring attention to the under-served. And is under SOCIAL pressure to support the anthem but not any indoctrination orders. The same anthem expectations as the fans that while the anthem plays can be at the bathroom, standing in line for food, or looking at their phone, through protest or just laziness

I think he's going at it wrong like BLM does, can't disagree on that.

*Update: I was never TRYING to disagree with you actually. Agree on small details, maybe not the bigger points. I get carried away with my CAPS USAGE*

Though I don't doubt that its trying to right some wrongs and there ARE real victims within it. For the simple fact that if you REMOVE the "Racism" part entirely and black-on-black element, there's still an issue of police bringing death to unarmed people and even UNARMED criminals shouldnt be getting killed. BLM sucks but the conversation is still an important one

I would wholly disagree with the bolded statement. Football in particular. Military is woven into the very fabric of the grand presentation of football.

I do know it, to the extent that I am able to know it and I don't appreciate your saying otherwise as if you know anything about me.

We absolutely disagree. 100%. EVERY skin color faces a preconceived notion by others and it's absolutely insane that anyone would disagree with that.

I believed I quoted one here and have seen plenty of BLM folks of the thought that if you're not with them you're against them. Enemy. That's the word used. Enemy.
I don't care about specifications though. Life matters to me and that includes every race, religion, gender, etc. All on the level. Isn't that what everyone wants? Equality or some such ****. Revising what I said earlier, you don't have to tell me black lives matter, BLM more or less or too or whatever. I get my own opinions on things and they mattered as people to me before they were black. Or muslim. Or female. Or whatever. THEY are the ones hung up on race, not me.

To be completely honest....I'm too much of a chicken **** to do that. I have had black neighbors my entire life, I've had black friends...I used to be the only white kid who would ball up at the local hoopery. Guess what my nickname was just for fun? But I won't breach the topic of race if I don't have to. It's not an easy conversation to have when you begin on the defensive because you're white and no other reason.

Really, it would be nice for black people to see my side of the thing since I try my best to see theirs. Y'all think y'all have seen some ****, probably have but if you think I haven't you're crazy. You just know it's coming to, when that one honkey starts getting brave because there's no one with even a nice tan around. You think I haven't been there lol...I am white after all. What am I going to do, beat up some old man's ass for being racist? No. I just have to say I don't believe in that and make the rest of the time awkward as ****.

Yes, the Democrats have decades in the more distant past. The Republicans have recent decades.
