Earlier in the week, they were saying that this front was the real deal. Parts of north Houston would hit the upper 40's Saturday night. This was great news, as I'm going to an Octoberfest in The Woodlands Saturday night and upper 40's is drinking weather. Now, they are saying it will only get down to the mid 60's and it's supposed to rain all weekend. The high on Sunday is 84. Buuuurrrr, time to get out my winter coat. It's getting all the way down to 84.
Come on, talk to me in January, when it is 65 degrees outside in Texas, while in the North it is 12 degrees.....who wins then? DD
I like Houston weather. People just live to ***** about it around here. Having lived in Detroit a few years, THAT weather sucked and it was relatively warm the 3 years I was there. Living in extreme heat is much better than living in extreme cold. Cons living in the north: 1. More expensive: You gotta pay for winter AND summer clothes + all the other household equipment. 2. Requires storage: Once you got all your winter gear, you gotta store all that crap somewhere. ...which by the way costs you even more $ cause that is extra square footage in your house/appt. 3. Time Consuming: Everytime you go somewhere in the snow, you gotta always leave extra early. Don't forget that you need to scrape the ice off your windshield and shovel the driveway EVERY morning. 4. Less convenience: You can't ever just pop outside to grab the paper or throw away the trash ...even the simplest outside tasks require you to get fully dressed. 5. Messy: Then when you undress, you got to hang up your crap somewhere where the melting snow/ice doesn't get all over your house. 6. Damages Cars & Stuff: Salting the roads causes your car to rust prematurely. Plus salting sidewalks screws up all your shoes. 7. Depressing: Up north it doesn't get light until after 8am and gets dark at 4pm. If you work standard hours, you litterally never see the sun. 8. Dangerous: Even if you are the best driver in the world, you can't control the other folks losing control of their cars all around you on the ice. Should I go on? Cons living in the south: 1. Humidity 2. You have to drink lots of water.
Yea, I hate hot weather. I'm moving backup up north ASAP. Maybe not. Finished typing the above post and opened Chron.com with this pic on the front page. The timely reminder of why I love the weather in Houston. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nation/4256627.html
Where did you live that it snowed enough every single day to require you to shovel your driveway every morning? I've lived in Minnesota for 15 years and I doubt I have ever shoveled/snow blown the driveway more than 10-15 times in any one winter.
LOL, dude I'm not asking for a blizzard or anything. Just the chance to wear some long sleeves or maybe even a (gasp) jacket for a change!
Out of that whole list, you picked that out? I bet you scraped your windshield more than 10-15 times a year. Point being, living in the north takes more of everything; time, money, patience, gear, etc etc etc. You can't pick and chose. With wearing jackets comes blizzards. so which is it? Personally, I'd rather b!tch about heat waves than blizzards.
