Before I back away from the keyboard and consume a tasty beverage, I would like to say that I have always been fond of the word "behoove" and would like to use it more in conversation.
By the way, I really like the word "behoove" too. It makes me sound like I went to law school, like my parents always wanted me to. Other words that I like include "inundate" and "personify". My favorite curse word is "motherf*cker", even though I do not have an incestuous bone in my body nor have Oedipus as my middle name. That is all. Carry on.
Are you threatening me? BTW, here's liberal Richard Cohen's take: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/03/AR2006050302202.html
Here you come again Just when I’m about to make it work without you You waltz right in the door Just like you done before And wrap my heart ’round your little finger Here you come again Just when I’m about to make it work without you You look into my eyes And light those dreamy eyes And pretty soon I’m wonderin’ How I came to doubt you All you gotta do Is smile that smile And there go all my defenses Just leave it up to you And in a little while You’re messin’ up my mind An’ fillin’ up my senses
^^^Sounds like someone's pissed they didn't get an invitation to dinner! LOL!!! And Richard Cohen is far from being a libpig!
Cohen (the writer) hit it on the head. The problem I have with Colbert's performance is that he took advantage of the situation. He knew Bush couldn't kick him out or yell at him. What he did wasn't brave as some are saying. It doesn't take a lot of courage to make fun of someone you know will not retaliate. If you're invited as a comedian be funny.
Patriotism != Blind Loyalty. Try thinking critically and establishing some principles of your own instead of just chanting "USA USA". It doesn't matter whether or not Bush committed "war crimes". The mere fact that you find legitimately punishing any US president under international law reprehensible is repugnant. Hooray for democracy - bummer that what you advocate is a dictatorship.
When we get a President who deserves to be punished, fine. But I still don't trust any Euros to do the judging because I do not trust them to be fair.
