Both the Warriors (Bogut) and Pistons (Monroe) have good young big men, yet you select Tyler Zeller and Meyers Leonard for them respectively. Don't you think they might be thinking about shoring up other positions first or do you think those two bigs are that good? I guess you're not buying the alleged Suns' promise to Dion Waiters at 13? I like the Rockets' pick of Austin Rivers at 14 but I think I'd go Moe Harkless or Marquis Teague (EXPLOSIVENESS) OR John Henson or Fab Melo (SIZE) with the 16th pick.
He is a potential 20/5/3 guy from UNC, and has star potential. Jordan will covet that over the potential in Drummond. Naw, Lamb is a far better prospect than Waiters. Lamb has some attitude issues though, so he might slip. I wouldn't be surprised if Rivers goes higher and we end up with Lamb. The warriors have no depth behind Bogut and he is injury prone. same goes with Detroit. Detroit needs size bad and Monroe would be a great PF.
I totally agree. Barnes or T-Rob are good moves for them. MKG is going to be a great #2 guy on a team, but the Bobcats don't have a #1. Drummond has just way too many question marks. If they want to make progress towards winning immediately, don't pick him. I also understand the Zeller pick for GState. He'd be a very nice backup to Lee and Bogut for that team. Better than Leonard there. Leonard would be nice at 9, but I can see them going after Henson's defensive potential over him. Sully would then fall to 12 or below. Leonard would go at 10-12.
I actually think Drummond would be the smarter pick for Jordan. Barnes has question marks as well, but Drummond would work really well with Walker in a pick and roll game. Barnes has a nasty mid range game, but that's about it. Drummond is a defensive presence and has the potential to be a 20 and 12 guy. I just personally believe he goes with Harrison Barnes, who has openly stated that he wants his name to be a brand, much like Jordan. Either way, they are getting a quality player.
4. Cavs – Andre Drummond, PF/C, UConn (will go higher) 9. Pistons – Meyers Leonard, C, Illinois (will go higher) 15. 76ers – Arnett Moultrie, PF, Mississippi St. (will go higher) 16. Rockets – Perry Jones III, PF, Baylor (will go higher) 20. Nuggets – John Henson, PF/C, UNC (will go higher) 25. Grizzlies – Fab Melo, C, Syracuse (will go higher)
I doubt that the Bobcats are interested in winning quickly. In such a complete tear down mode winning quickly is not going to happen. And Jordon took an EC playoff team 2 years ago and tore it down to what we saw last season.
I don't know about that. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cavs took Beal over Drummond. Beal is a top 3 talent in this draft and could be a good 2 for a long time. Myers won't go higher than GS, but I think they will prefer Zeller. Jones has all the potential in the world, but he won't go top 10 because a lot of teams are scared he won't reach his max potential because of character and work ethic issues. Henson and Melo will likely go higher just because of the height, but I think Henson is very overrated, as is Melo, both are shot blockers only and have limited offensive games.
My Big Board is: 1. Davis 2. Beal 3. Kidd-Gilchrist 4. Drummond 5. Robinson 6. Barnes 7. Sullinger 8. Terrence Jones 9. Rivers 10. Lamb
Damn i wish we had that Mavs Pick this year( for christ sakes) I would love to have Perry Jones, Tyler Zeller, and Austin Rivers...
Not criticizing your mock draft... but that would be terrible for the Rockets. I'm not too big on Dion Waiters, but there's no way you take Rivers with Waiters still available. I'd even take Terrence Ross over Rivers. Also, don't take Perry Jones. Trade down and take Royce White instead of Perry. Even if Royce has too much anxiety to travel with the team at all, you'll get 41 more quality games from him than you will Perry.
Good post. I prefer Ross to Waiters, although Waiters is more well rounded. Ross's shooting is really smooth, and he can defend.
