Primarily, yes. I think the Tea Party will end up being exploited by organized parties because they don't want to become a traditional party themselves. But, the tea-baggers at least have some sincere energy and are probably worth exploiting. A Coffee Party is likely even more toothless and may never be enough of a phenomenon to bother exploiting. And, it's lame to identify yourself in your relationship to another organization. It's like the No-Homers-Club. It seems completely reactionary: we don't like tea-baggers; or filibustering Republicans; or whatever. Do they have an actual ideology, or just things they don't like? lol.
Hmm, I'm interested. Need to see where people are meeting in Houston. <object width="480" height="332"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x1iw3i"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x1iw3i" width="480" height="332" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object><br /><b><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1iw3i_blur-coffee-and-tv-mv_creation">Blur - Coffee And TV [MV]</a></b><br /><i>Uploaded by <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/skanel">skanel</a>. - <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/us/channel/creation">Watch original web videos.</a></i> But if the kind of obvious sponsorship of cable news and full time political talking heads and political agents starts happening like with the TEA Party I'm out.
Here's the Houston event tomorrow: http://org2.democracyinaction.org/o/6500/p/salsa/event/common/public/index.sjs?event_KEY=19350 It's from 2-5PM
For those with the good sense to avoid basso's (for the 1 millionth time, unlabeled), link, I fell on the grenade. It's a conservative blog (a very poor one, at that) called "Left Coast Rebel," and it highlights that some people in the Coffee Party "movement" have posted pro-Obama things on the internet before and one even spoke at a LGBT rally once about civil disobedience. Oh the horrors! Still, as Dave78 said, haven't found any racism so this little movement is probably doomed to fail.
I love that we've pulled a complete 180 since the sixties. Conservative white folks are having angry protest rallies, and liberals are having coffee klatches, listening to Fritz Mondale spoken-word albums about the evils of tax cuts.
I think there's a conservative version of that running around, with the words "multiculturalism" or "diversity" on it. Swipe.
And from the teaparty: Spoiler What's the point of doing this, exactly? You know, the showing one inflammatory example to try to discredit a huge number of people or a much more general principle? And by that I mean pretty much your only available mental process. I know you have to poop on every single entity that's not directly on its knees before the almighty Cheney, but can your logic or ability to argue about anything ever evolve beyond the most banal? (That's a rhetorical question since you've shown ample evidence over the last decade that the answer is a resounding NO.)
only that characterizing an entire movement by highlighting its extremists is likely misleading. say what? agreed.
How is that poster pro-Obama? Where on that poster is there anything about something Obama has said, done, or about the man himself?
The opening speaker at the tea party convention delivered a racist speech. Or did they just invite their first speaker to appeal to their very extremes and not someone who was more representative?
What the hell was that piece? For some reason the writer of the piece thinks he's done some great investigating because they found out one of the ladies is an Obama supporter who puts Obama stuff on her website. Wow, how unsensible of her. That's too hilarious. You seem really desperate to find anything at all to tarnish the coffee party, and despite your valiant efforts you can't do it. I'm sorry that the tea party you admire has a racist streak a mile wide, and that doesn't bother you. But finding out that a member of the coffee party posted a youtube of Obama telling Congressional Republicans to stop holding up health care doesn't make the too groups even in the worst element category. Though that was some fine investigating that the website did to find that Stacy did have that youtube on her own website. Shocking! and oh so revealing!
No, you are a running joke here who makes a living out of posting crap that goes from misleading to worse. With all due respect. Anyone want to do an exercise? Go to Google images and do a search for George W. Bush idiot. Look at the images. Then go to Google images and do a search for Barack Obama idiot. Look at the images. Then come back here and tell me there is any reasonable comparison at all and that there aren't an incredible number of images of President Obama that are blatantly racist and blatantly connected to "The Tea Party."
