Do they have a store in Houston? I googled and they only serve Austin.

Not sure what you googled but they are in Houston. I don't think they have anything in Austin.

I'm kind of a practical coffee drinker. I really only drink coffee when I didn't sleep well and need to be physically active.

At the same time, my father and two brothers are a bunch of hardcore coffee snobs and so I've learned a whole lot about the entire process. What I learned from them is that by selecting the right bean and controlling the acidity to your liking, you can get a coffee which tastes significantly better to you and gives you an energy boost that you'd never get out of instant or store bought packaged coffee.

I also learned that I enjoy the manual process of making coffee almost as much as drinking it. I actually enjoy grinding it manually, boiling water and pouring it at the right speed/temperature to get a perfect cup of coffee for me.

I ended up getting this coffeemaker and this grinder. Very happy with both.

I get my beans from HEB. Usually just go with the House Blend, but some other flavors have been pretty good too.

There is a really good podcast on the joe rogan experience about coffee. I'll track it down in case anyone is interested.

By the way joe rogan experience is one of the most varied and interesting things I have come across in an extremely long time. It has ufc fighters, comedians, people with PhDs in bio chemistry, authors of many kinds, specialists in varied fields, to people with various tv shows.

For me it's the first time I have had something I could listen to that was comparable to reading a non-fiction book. Sometimes it's nice for the ufc fighters to talk about fighting I suppose, but generally those are the interviews I'm least interested in.

Anyways check out a couple with interviews of interest, you won't regret it.

I brew my usual cup of coffee every morning before going to work. I use to have a Mr. Coffee machine and that was great until it broke down. Now I use a Krups machine which works fine. I'd say get a small coffee grinder to grind the whole beans for the freshest result. Peet's coffee, Coffee Bean, Duncan Donuts, hell anything but that instant coffee crap is good. Creamers suck. It's processed crap and full of sugar.

If you're drinking coffee and going to sleep then you must be really tired. Good luck.

Crazy that it's the dude from Newsradio and Fearfactor. I have always enjoyed his appearances on other podcasts like Carollla and been meaning to check his own out for quite a while.

My office has the terrible version of K-Cups in Flavia that I used to tolerate on espresso setting. Some have tried a press but I figure the hot water tap isn't hot enough to be worth the bother. I gave up a while ago and just got some very strong English black tea but it's just not the same.

Ugh . . . we used to have the Flavia . . . does it still have those stupid bags that look like baby food? Ugh. Worst drink ever. There's bad coffee out there, but I wouldn't even call that coffee. We convinced HR to trash all of them for old school Braun pots and vacuum carafes. Our argument that swayed them: waste and cost. It ended up being much cheaper to have one option of decent coffee than providing all those Flavia packets. We got better coffee and it was cheaper!
