He's worth 6 picks. We don't need them with all our youth. Amen 22, Ant 23, Jabari 21, Tari 23, Sengun 22, Reed 20, Dillon 29, FVV 30. With that lineup bought out vets and journeyman shooters will flock to us to fill out the bench.
Green turns 23 in a week and is in his 4th year, and we still don't solidly know what he will be long term. He could become an all star starting shooting guard or he could become a 6th man. There are some positive numbers this year - he is shooting a lot better in the 3-10 foot range for example.... but there are also some negatives, as the team is a -10 per 100 possessions with him on the court. It is just going to require patience with Green to see what happens.
ridicuous take they can have all of that for Ant. Our true alpha. We would be instant contenders with Ant instead of Jalen.
You’re right — he’s about to turn 23. And All Time, he is top 15 in 20, 25, 30, and 40 point games amongst all players before turning 23. Look at the top 25 in any of those lists and tell me which players ended up as 6th men in their primes. I’m not saying Green is going to be an All Star. But the idea that he will be a 6th man is absurd IMO.
My opinion is that Green will not be a starting SG on a contending team. Could he be a SG in Charlotte or the Blazers? Yea sure, but I don’t think he will start for a good-great team. He’s on the same trajectory as McCullom to me.
He's shown real growth this year. I wish his 3 ball were more consistent, but it's trending up -- you can see more clearly how he has factored into the other team's defensive game plan. I also think he has taken a positive step in decision making as a lead guard. Still more progress to go, but it's at least trending well.
Jalen Cam BKN MAVS All the PHX picks The remaining BKN is healthy. The Mavs pick looks like gold now...as are our PHX holdings. Jalen and Cam alone probably constitute at least 80% value of Ant. I wouldn't move them ALL.
It would be certainly be an overpay. But, maybe you rationalize it to your God and crank it out. Tough call at best for me.
I mean going by the return Dallas got, FVV plus a pick should just about do it Seriously though, yes, I would trade all the picks for Ant Edwards, and Stoney should be asking Minnesota about it once a week ad infinitum. I'd imagine the answer is still "no" right now though, finding a guy like Ant is the goal, even if they f*cked everything up around him with some stupid trades. At some point he will demand a trade if they can't right the ship, though, and we should be the first through that door.
Give me Khris Middleton or CJ McCollum without losing the core and we should be set for the rest of the year and the playoffs. Both have deep playoff experience and can bring up the ball and settle this young team down during those 4th quarter collapses.
Hell, were talking Jalen and 4 picks for Booker at 29 years old. Ant is better than Booker at every aspect of the game and is 23 and is signed for 5 years. We are young and strong and built to last for a decade if we got the second best player in the league, maybe 3rd best depending on how you feel about SGA.
looking around at this trade deadline, there are a multitude of teams wanting to deal - but lacking desired, tradeable assets. Thus, holding something in reserve has true value. there’s always tomorrow…in team building to championship contention.
NBA trade winners almost invariably is the team that got the best player in the deal/show me a multi-for-1 deal and it’s the ‘1’ test that won.
Off topic, but hearing the Rockets have interest in Ausar Thompson. My guess is Reed, Brooks, and 2 firsts reunite the brothers.
I think what we can say about Jalen is that he's shown enough this season on his new contract that, if he were to be included in a trade in the next 6 months, he'd be included as serious positive value, not just salary filler. He's 22, was 10th in Western Conference backcourt all star results (combining fan, media, and players), and has been a finalist for 2 of the last 4 Western Conference Player of the Month awards. I doubt it's a unanimous feeling, but there are definitely at least a few front offices in the league who would very highly value acquiring Jalen. And that's all you need for him to be a valuable trade asset, if a trade ever happens.
