This is a good deal - Batum makes Ariza expendable and gets rid of Ryno's contract.

His percentages concern me. He's a good player on a massive inflated deal, but shoots 33% from 3.

Would rather have Batum at $20M vs Anderson+Ariza at $32-35M.

If we got 33% from Ariza in Game 7, we win the series.

When have i said lebron has to come to houston? Ive said repeatedly if we cant make a deal for a third star Im down for the same team returning and remaining flexible for next year and use ir tax level exception for a bench piece. You obviously just refuse to pay attention

Except Ariza shot at a higher percentage for most of the season so...

Batum has yet to have a meaningful postseason. I am not sure what your point is. He is on a horrible contract and is worse than Ariza.

He was really pretty solid in 13-14, the year the Blazers beat the Rockets.

But today he's not that player and is way overpaid... and has effectively 3 years left on his deal. In the world of overpaid players, it's not as bad as a Chandler Parsons who NEVER even plays... but it isn't good.

In a scenario where you can get him for Ryno, you can improve by S&T'd Ariza... then he's worth a look.

That was a while ago but agreed. He's not the same player now. He's OK until you consider his contract. He is owed 96 million over the next 4 years. That is far worse than Ryan Anderson's contract.

Not important dude. Just talking to those who bark at me when I said LeBron would be going to Lakers.

I was going call everyone out that talked BS to me.....on a thread reporting “LeBron will be joining Lakers” soon to come, but not worth it. The cry babies will probably have a break down and do harm to
themselves or others near to them.

The reality is that Ryan Anderson won’t be traded in a SnT to Cavs nor be involved in a SnT of multiple
teams involved with Cavs. End of discussion of LeBron to Houston. Deal with it.

Let’s move on with our lives....or don’t. Don’t be crying like b*****s when he announces he is not coming here.

No need for me to say “I told you so.”

You're going to pick one game to judge a player? Ariza was great last year. He was horrible in game 7. A lot of people were horrible in game 7. Including the refs. If we win that game, you're saying that your entire perception of Ariza changes? Seems kind of silly to me.

Ariza, at this point, is an average to above-average 3-and-D wing who should be playing no more than 30 mpg and getting paid no more than his current salary.

Batum is an average 3-and-D wing who has had slipping 3 point percentages for years now, and will be paid 96 million over the next 4 years.

When you consider the players in the context of salary commitments, it makes no sense to trade Ariza for Batum in any circumstance.

Not proposing to trade Batum for Ariza, its Batum for Ryno.

Ariza can then be a SnT to a team of his choosing. Hopefully for NGs or expiring contracts and a low first or high 2nd.

Although SnT may trigger hard cap so just releasing his cap hold is another option. I dont believe this happens because of Rockets have Ariza Bird rights but just throwing out options.

Another option is a 3 team trade involving Capela SnT for 20-26M. SnT Capela to PHX, PHX swaps 1st with SAC 2nd, PHX 2018 2nd and 2019 1st to HOU, SAC sends WCS to HOU, NG filler to HOU, PHX 2019 and HOU 2019 2nds to SAC plus TJW.

Rockets dump NG filler from PHX and SAC to avoid LT. WCS has a 3.7M salary for 2 more seasons, this could be worth triggering hard cap.

I'll take 33% if his defense and versatility are there.

But wouldn’t take a better shooter on a cheaper, shorter deal (Ariza) who has real playoff experience and is equally good at defense?
