This doesn't work at all. You still have min cap holds for a full roster and this math has already been done. You gut the team. Gordon isn't worth the exchange. We will be operating above the cap so cap space does not exist for us this year. Stretching Ryno is a horrible idea. That literally will hurt us. We need that salary slot to get something positive. Paying him off now cripples us going forward for no reason.

No there is around a 1.7 million hold per empty roster spot under 12. And to use the space remaining youd gave to release the rights to all those players. Thus you coupdnt re sign them. What are you even thinking? You are thinking sbout releasing capela, ariza, cp3, and everyone elsecwith a hold to offer aaron gordon a contract that wont even be his max? Thats what you just did.

You arent understanding any of this.

Hes literally gutting the roster for a chance to sign aaron gordon. He doesnt understand how operating the cap works. Its pretty clear. His boldness in lecturing anyone in that other thread was clearly offbase.

If cap holds aren't removed how are we supposed to have $26M available to offer Aaron Gordon? According to the Sportrac website you recommended our players under contract are as follows:

    James Harden - $30.4M
    Eric Gordon - $13.5M
    PJ Tucker $7.9M
    Nene $3.6M
    Chinanu Onuaku $1.5M
    Zhou Qi $1.3M

Our notable cap holds are as follows:

    Chris Paul $35.3M
    Trevor Ariza $12.8M
    Clint Capela $7M

I'm not even including Ryno's $20.4M salary at all, but stretching him leaves a few million on the current cap as well. Just these nine players alone are $113M. Which combination of these players do you let go to get to $75M so that you can sign Gordon to an offer sheet?

Understand my main option is to maintain what we got minus Ryan Anderson and add decent free agents.

Trading Ryan Anderson is top 1 priority......but give me the odds of a team with enough cap space taking the $20 mil
cap hit? Chances are slim and none. Reports are that the Rockets are aggressively trying to trade Ryan.....as the draft
is in 2 days, we will see Ryan moved soon. Or not. The Rockets before the draft don’t have the summer 19 pick
available to package with Ryan (or another trade); but once the draft ends Thursday, the Rockets can package
1st rd picks (2018-19.....2020-21......2022-23). I think this can be done after a June 21st draft.....but it still works in
with the Aaron Gordon poison pill scenario.

I’m of the opinion, no 3rd star (no offense Codman, Eric Gordon and Capela are stars....but are stars 4 & 5) Morey
won’t lock up the team salary. CP3/Harden tandem clock has started ticking. Window of usual 3-years is ticking.
Rockets can stay under the luxury tax and buy their time until next summer (or big catch during the season of 2018/19).
Or go ahead and have Harden, EGo, Tucker, Nene, under contract.......sign A Gordon for possibly poison pill contract
or SnT or straight up as a restricted free agent with normal $ spread out. Chances are Orlando will match; before
the trading deadline I seem to remember the Orlando payroll being around $130 million. Now it’s much more doable
to match the normal restricted free agent contract.......but a poison pill?

Rockets can lock up the team salary this year: 1) Harden, Tucker, Nene, A Gordon (poison pill)

    payroll around $97 mil

    2) then sign a free agent or 2 to somewhat minimal contracts......one being an MLE (possibly Luc MaM with GG)

teams payroll starts climbing above the $101M soft cap, and going towards the $123 M hard cap plus apron.

    3) sign CP3/ Capela.........Ariza at $8 M or allow to go elsewhere. Aaron Gordon can play some small forward.

I don’t believe I said renounce the rights to players in my earlier post this morning. Just was pointing out that the
Rockets have more leeway in a A Gordon deal vs LeBron. Forcing the LeBron square peg splinters the team more
than the Aaron Gordon square peg.

Anyone who remembers the Jeremy Lin poison pill remembers it was $5 mil, 5 mil, for about 3 yrs, then jumped to
about $15 mil the final year. The good thing was that Houston would pay the average of the contract of about $8 mil
a year. Not sure how that works with Aaron Gordon. His contract could be the average of $26 mil over 4 yrs.
That would mean 1st year around $22 mil......2nd yr $24 mil.

I’m wondering about poison pill of Aaron Gordon contract.....how it would look.
Maybe 1st year $20 mil, 2nd year $20 mil, 3rd year $20 mil.......4th year $45 mil. Orlando has Jonathan Isaac
on a cheaper contract to consider. His future with the team. Cuban had a %15 trade kicker worked into
Parsons contract. We could do the same.

    CP3/ Harden/ Aaron Gordon/ Tucker/ Capela
EGo/ GG/ Luc MaM at ?@$4M?/ free agent on MLE or Luc MaM as MLE/ (draft Metu or Vanderbilt if available) & Nene
Ariza if he will take $8 mil (taking us over the $123 mil luxury tax).

People tell me Tilllman will pay anything over the luxury tax. Poison pill might save him money in luxury tax in year
4 as he pays the final year of Aaron Gordon, but it counts against the team salary as the average of the contract.
Knicks if they matched had to take the $15 mil hit though if they matched. Could buy Houston Max money and time
    plus have a good team.

IIRC BECAUSE of what Htown did with the poison pills contracts in the past, they are now VERBODEN under the new CBA.
    I could be wrong tho....

Aaron Gordon will save us..... he's the Rockets' Messiah! Forget Lebron or any of those quality players Aaron Gordon will be top 5 players of all time! I actually wouldn't mind Aaron Gordon but you are definitely right that we are not getting him.
    Next!

CP3 HAS A CAP HOLD OF 35 MILLION DOLLARS. ADD THAT TO YOUR CAP!!!!!! YOU HAVE TO OPERATE WITH CAP HOLDS ON THE CAP!! To get rid of them you have to renounce rights. I.E. YOU CANT SIGN THEM TO GO OVER THE CAP!!! HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO SAY THIS

Sorry for the all caps. But this man just doesnt get it.

Just ignoring the absurdity of this post. Just starting at the top if we are at 97 million renouncing rights to make an offer for gordon we wouldnt get a full MLE . Youd only get a room exception of 4.5 Million Wed be under the cap dude. LEARN HOW IT WORKS! You are also forgetting all the roster spot cap holds for not having a full roster. Jesus you are deep in the rabit hole of being completely lost

    1) NO WE DONT!! You have to renounce rights to clear the cap holds.

    2) IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE LINEUP.

This whole post was embarrasingly wrong. You have no clue how anything works man. Please go read about cap holds. You have no clue.

I am going to apologize to you in advance because I don't mean disrespect but I stopped reading after you mentioned poison pill again. Players drafted in the 1st round cannot be subjected to a poison pill deal. I could make it more exact and clear but it is not worth my time. NOTHING you are writing about is possible which is further evidence why your Lakers based discussion about FA is also wrong. You don't know the CBA and should stop posting these scenarios. LBJ and PG may go to the Lakers but now we all know when you dismiss the Rockets you did so because you had no clue as to what the team planned to do. Kawhi will never go to the Lakers and a team with PG and LBJ cannot compete with a Rockets team with LBJ.

    No it’s still available.

It was only a question for Codman to get him talking. But I know Codman doesn’t have time for chit chat.
Instead I got attacked by all the “LeBRON has to come to Houston or we all commit Hari Cari” people like
    @Gorilladunks .

I wanted to hear Codman say something sensible like, Orlando would rrelease Mack and his non guaranteed
$6M contract and be enough under the cap to hit us with a poison pill offer on Capela in retaliation.

I love playing the heel and getting you LeBron has to come to Houston no matter what people all worked up into a frenzy.
    Makes my day.

No, he's sharp like that. Those weird fact things should just be ignored. Poison pills that don't exist and all. If he keeps saying them they magically become real.

Jordan and Kupchak are rumored to be trading Dwight to Nets for Movgov and a future 1st. Kupchak really loves him some Movgov.

Was hoping to trade Ryno to Hornets for either Batum or MKG as he would be great complement to Howard. But who knows, doubt Charlotte is finished making moves and a deal could still be made. Ryno's deal is shorter and smaller than Batum.

Bringing on Batum would give Rockets another SnT option for Ariza. Ariza supposedly asking for $50-$60M.

We also don't have cap... he isn't going to mature at the right time for this team... he has maturity issues off the court too... even as a UA alumni I'm not his biggest fan.
