So, I was at Wal-Mart today, and saw this stuff. Being the consumer w**** that I am, I knew I had to try it. If you hadn't seen the info about Coke's new product, check out Wikipedia's article about it. Basically it's a coffee-flavored coke drink. Literally, I am opening it and tasting it now for the first time . . . smells nice. hmm. Interesting. It has sort of a mocha flavor, but the fizz and sweetness of Coke. It doesn't taste bad. It actually tastes pretty good, but I don't really care for the carbonation. It has a nice aftertaste. The bottle itself is small -- one of those little 8 oz bottles. all done. Well, I've got 3 more bottles to go, but other than that, I don't think I'll buy it again. First off, for almost $5 for 4 8oz bottles, it's a rip-off. Second, it's not that good -- it's not bad, but I'd just as soon drink Dr. Pepper or something else. And if I'm going for coffee-flavored drinks, I'd get the Starbucks bottles, which are infinitely better than this. All in all, sort of a dud. But it was worth a try. Coke BlaK is not bad, it's just not really something I have a need or real desire for, especially at the cost. Grade: C edit: thanks for rolling this into the big topic. I should've looked before posting.
I went around my campus to purchase a pack, but none of the stores carried it. Carrying a coffee drink would make sense since this is a college.
Anybody try the new Dr. Pepper Berries & Cream. Bought 12 pack yesterday. I like it even better than thier Black Cherry and Vanilla. Has kind of a creamy flavor.
I saw some at the store yesterday and could not believe how expensive it was. I don't understand what is so special about it that they give you these 6 packs of 8oz bottles for $5.
ya i saw it yesterday but i decided not to get it. sounds nasty but i guess i'll have to check it out now
That's the surprising thing. How are you going to win any market share if people are deterred from getting used to drinking it by the price? You're supposed to get everybody hooked and then jack up the price.
nice play by play...reminds me of violet beauregard (sp?) eating the 3-course meal chewing gum in the original charlie and the chocolate factory. i just tried it myself, and it definitely tastes just as advertised...coffee-flavored coke. what's interesting is the after effect. complete coffee breath and tastes like you've just been pounding down coffee, but, when you burp you get the oh-so-familiar coke tasting burp and throat burn. overall, i'd say it's definitely worth trying. unique drinking experience. i'm guessing this stuff is awful for you though.
Since it was mentioned... The Dr. Pepper berries and cream (bottled here in Plano) tastes great ice cold. Let it get warm and you're sippin' on the sizzzyrrp. Or cough medicine.
My sister told me almost the exact same thing... "It's really good if it's ice cold." Of course, regular Dr. Pepper follows that rule too. It's not very good if it's just kinda cold, but it transforms into the most incredible drink on earth when it's chilled.
one thing to stay away from like the plague is the diet version of the berries and cream. i tried it since i diet dr pepper is pretty good. but stay from the diet berries and cream. the regular is good though blak i didnt like it left a weird after taste and it was all filmy
