I think people just see a 6'6'' TE that runs fast and think he will be like Gronk. There are goos value TEs later, like Ladarius Green. Texans are probably going WR or OLB in the first round. I'm hoping for Hill in the first or Quick in the second. Maybe trade down and out of the first (if teams are looking at Weeden, or other players they dont think will last to them) and take Quick with their first second round pick.

I watched multiple Stanford games over the last two years as I am a big Andrew Luck fan from his Stratford days. Fleener can impact this team a lot more than any of the receivers in the draft, Blackmon included. Fleener is not a possession receiver by any stretch. Whoever said that Gresham and Pettigrew were decent is lying. They are both really young and already in the top 10-12 of tight ends in the league and moving in an upward trend. I could go back and do the same thing with receivers at the end of the first 2006 Santonio Holmes - decent 2007 Buster Davis - sucks ass Robert Meachem - decent Anthony Gonzalez - sucks ass 2008 Donnie avery, very early second - sucks ass You are acting like people get HOF guys in the end of the first round on a yearly basis.
Pre ACL-injury Owen Daniels was a top five TE in this league. The year he got hurt was turning into his breakout year. He was picked in the third. I'm not seeing what's so special about Fleener. He is an okay blocker and doesn't go for a lot of jump balls, despite his height. I think on a straight seam, catching the ball in stride, he would be sick, but no better than a Hill or Quick (can trade back if someone wants Fleener if he falls). I wouldn't be upset at the pick, but i think the Texans can get better value and/or upside.
jeffrey dropped to about 215.. looks slim tbh.. i still think most people are scare dof his history and what he'll do once hes paid..
Gronk was taken 42nd(2nd) overall, jimmy graham taken 95th(3rd).. Fleener is projected late 1st, early 2nd because his size and most importantly his skill set is similar to Gronk. the reason graham and gronk are so good is because they can run.. Fleener is in that same mold, sub 4.45 forty time.. how do you guard a guy with his size, speed, and hands..

This would be ideal, but Randle and Jeffrey will be long gone by our pick in the 2nd. There is a chance Wright drops because he showed up to the combine with 16% body fat.
You take pre-ACL tear Daniels and insert him into the league right now and he sure as hell isn't a top 5 TE. Also, usage in the pass game and being an actual good TE are different things. Jacob Tamme was not the best TE in the NFL when he was averaging 7 receptions per game in starts in 2010 when Clark went out.
Gronk can do it all, way more complete player coming out of college than Fleener. Height and 40 speed get you Chase Coffman.
I prefer to watch film and make my assessments as opposed to comparing players on paper. Coffman is no where near as fast as Fleener regardless. Even if he were, that's like saying Blackmon and Floyd are going to be just like David Terrell, just because their measurables are similar. Not a very good way to scout.
Daniels was on pace for over a 1,000 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns before he got hurt that year. Only two TE's had more receiving yards and TD's this past year so I would of easily put him in the top 5
Nah, he wasn't that good. Homerism. Again... usage v.s. how good players actually are. If you cant name 5 TE's you'd rather have right now over pre-injury Daniels you're a homer. Don't give me stats.
You do realize that Owen Daniels only had 54 catches last season. There were like 15 other TE's with more catches. And JOEL DRESSEN had more touchdowns then OD. So...
He said pre injury so I was giving his stats of the year that he was injured. He was an absolute beast during those 7 games he played.
Daniels was improving every single year that he was in the league and he was in line for his breakout season. He was Schaub's favorite target the year he went down. Also, Daniels did almost as much in 7 games then what Tamme did over an entire season.

Tamme only played half the season - wasn't targeted. Clark started. Again - usage v.s. actually being good. Top 10? Fair enough. Top 5 by today's standards? No way.
I'm not hating your opinion. I just think that OD would be a top 5 TE if he never got injured. But back on topic I wouldn't mind us drafting Coby Fleener. I think he'd be a good fit.
