Dude you already posted something stupid on the other thread similar to this one. Back up C's? Since when does a back up C have to be 7 feet? You can use Dorsey at the 5 to give Yao a break. Shiet if Hayes can shut down Dirk in the 4th quarter then I am quite sure ANY of our PF's can handle their own while Yao sits. If they cant, then we are not as deep as we say we are. PERIOD.
I think he wanted to play him w/McGrady. They didn't play a lot together in preseason and were out of sync in a couple of passes in his read and react offense.
even so, how many big men can play so many minutes?????????????????? those games were not crucial. do you really need to wear him out???? today's game is an example that Yao didn't have efficiency. because of what?????? answer is obvious. he has played too much.
I remember where I was sitting and exactly what I was doing when it was announced last year that Yao was out for the season with a stress fracture. I also remember exactly how it felt. Yao is a gigantic awkward unbalanced monster. Any fall, slip, TRIP, bump could end his season and ours. There is just too much at stake. Any time we can spare with him not on the court is something we have to take full advantage of. Our secondary is amazing and there was PLENTY of garbage time in this game. Adelman needs to change this up or this season could very easily be a repeat of last season.
To me it looked like he was trying to give the starting lineup time together. So far they've looked pretty sloppy so they need the time. A few minutes aren't going to kill Yao. But yes, in the future once are team is rolling (which I still don't think we are) I would like to see our starters sitting.
There was absolutely no excuse for Yao to be in the game in the 4th quarter with a 15 point lead. Inexcusable.
wear him out? He doesn't look nearly as tired playing 40/game this season as he has playing 30/game the past years.
Les had better intervine here or somebody in the organization needs to get in Rick's ear and let hiim know Yao just came off a stress fracture in his foot. Dorsey is rotting on the bench and we need him to give Yao at least 10 minutes of rest per night. This game was over and Yao had no business still in the game. RA stop the madness before you get Yao hurt again.
Once again, gotta love all the wannabe coaches here. The rockets should fire Adelman and hire one of you guys.
I like Coach and yeah I'm no coach but I don't know any Center that has played one whole half without a break. Well 37 seconds but he basically played the whole 2nd half.
From someone working in the medical field, A stress fracture such as the one Yao had is generally an overuse injury. The key concept is that when muscles/ligaments become fatigued or overloaded to the point that it could no longer absorb the stress/shock/pounding/repeated pressure/impact, the underlying/nearby bones will have to take over by absorbing the extra stress. Over the time, a small crack or fracture will happen in the bone, which is named as stress fracture. They are typically caused by two types of activities: one being repetitive pounding or running on a hard surface, such as playing NBA games on hard wood floor night in and out, and the other being sudden increase of time, intensity or type of stress-producing activities, which is less common and less known by the public. So in essential, to reduce the risk of reinjury Yao's foot, RA and his team should really focus on doing by both cutting down his practice time during the off days, and also limiting his minutes in single games as much as possible. Prevention is everything in modern medicine, and it will be too late to be able to do anything if Yao goes down second time three months into the season. RA and CO, please do not be too short-sighted.
and why the need for all 3 of yao, tmac, and ron ron to be on the court at the same time?? IMO, throughout the game, the team seems to be more effective with any combination of just 2 out of the 3 on the court together. does anybody else see it or is it just me
i agree. over the course of the season, mcgrady's will get plenty of chances to mesh with the other starters as he recovers fully. maybe we're overreacting a bit, but i still think yao's avg. minutes of 39+ so far is a legit concern. i don't care how many hours you cut it down for yao in off days, leaving him on the court late in the 4th with a 15pts lead is kinda silly. anything, good or bad, could happen at any time on the court.
I did not see the reason why RA kept Yao on the floor after leading 15 points in the middle of 4th quarter. We need our voice to be heard!
those were very timid 15 point leads. with rockets size on the court and style of play, those 15 points can disappear in less than 2 minutes. And those were 15 point leads against pretty bad teams.
That is correct. Adding Ron and Aaron really relieves the pressure from Yao. Better field goal percentage means less offensive rebound and less fast break. Ron + Aaron is the reason of our 4th advantage so far.
