Not counting his brawl year, he's missed an average of 16 games per season for his career.

If the game is on the line, keep him in, obviously.

I'm not saying Adelman was wrong necessarily. I will say that Ron Artest, Tracy McGrady, the "underrated Louis Scola", and Rafer oughta be pretty damn comfortable with a 15 point fourth quarter lead against the Thunder.

Well that's a relief. Regarding player injuries I fear two things: 1 due to wear and tear and the other due to freak accidents. Cutting on Yao's practice may reduce wear and tear more than cutting his minutes, but increasing his minutes to make up for the days off increase the chances of freak accidents happening, especially at end of games when Yao is already exhausted and has reduced reflexes. Playing Yao extended minutes in a game is like playing Russian Roulette...you never know when some nutjob or some punk like Howard will play dirty and try to injure Yao. At least in practice Yao is playing against his own team mates. In NBA games Yao might be playing against players whose game plan includes injuring their opponents (*cough*Bruce Bowen*cough*), so for me the less time he sees on court the better, especially when you have a 15 pt lead against the Thunder :p

We do have a backup center on the roster...his name is Joey Dorsey. Considering I don't even know who their C and PF are, last game would have been perfect for Dorsey to get some burn. Apparently Addleman is playing on a tight rotation again like his latter Sacramento days. I hope he learned from his Gerald Wallace and Kevin Martin experience and actually give his little known players a chance to play...I mean, is 5 minutes of playing time (and more rest for Yao) really too much to ask? We had a 15 pt lead! Against the THUNDER, for cryin' out loud  And what happened to luther head? He's a stud in regular games, let him earn his salary in the regular season games at least lol

Might have been for conditioning... getting his body use to the rest of the season. I personally am willing to trust RA. That's why he is getting paid millions to coach while we are whining on the blogs! :D

To me its not whether he plays 33 minutes or 38 minutes. The extra 5 or 6 minutes won't matter nearly as much as controlling his out of game conditining. in fact, if memory serves, i think Morey said as much. I do agree with the overall premise that his workload must be managed, i just think its better to manage the off court stuff.

Up 15 means nothing. We have lost leads of that much very quickly. Besides, I thought I heard the commentation say that Rick intends to limit Yao's PRACTICE time, not gametime. I'm sure there are reasons why Yao stays in or doesn't.

It ultimately boils down to this: to a coach, if a player goes down, then a player goes down, there's nothing he can do or will take responsibility on it. He won't be judged when the team in short of the best player. So, a coach naturally lean to play a player if he feel the slight need.

that's cuz we don't have a true back up center for yao and battier is still out. we need someone like deke substitute for yao even if its only 5-10 minutes

So whats up is Dorsey too dumb for the plays or what?

We need more than Dorsey, I wouldn't mind a more offensive Center than Deke.
