CNN had some list of top ten things not to do at the office. One of them was clipping your nails. That used to be so common at my workplace and I always hated it. I could never understand why people would clip their nails at work of all places. And, the nail clippers make that annoying highing pitch when they cut. But, apparently, some people find that perfectly normal to do that at work. I never got it and always cringed when it happened. I haven't heard it lately. I guess it has something to do with they don't realize they need to clip their nails until they start typing on a keyboard and realize their nails are getting in the way. Still, couldn't you go do that in the bathroom or something?
Umm, a couple of things. First of all, I never said I have a problem with the Chinese workers, the person I was making the thread about was the woman who was complaining. The particular issue is that she is loud, and everyone has just accepted this. Then she goes and complains about her co workers who really only talk on their lunch break. secondly, the woman isn't black, I don't know how you drew that conclusion.
I've worked at two jobs where it seems the biggest whiners get what they want. It really makes me wonder that if you don't complain about something, is the message you send is that you don't care. my current boss is the first one I've had who truly seems to be bothered about people who complain about things like this. and I agree on your point about office drama being settled by mature conversations. i made a mistake, there's actually four chinese workers, one works in my group she was hired recently and I forgot to mention. it. well she does something truly weird, she hums while she's working and its now actually starting to sing, it first started in the afternoons but now its like all day. so its starting to bother some people in cube I work in. being the one person who works in her group in the office, i think they expect me to say something to her, because the only other way its going to get handled is if someone complains. but to be honest, i haven't had the guts to bring it up with her in a mature manner as not to embarrass her. I would hate to see someone complain and her have to go through that experience, she's a doctorate student at Rice, but this is her first job. She was clearly very nervous when she started and still is to some degree after about four months.
