Almu just met this reporter yesterday. Check his thread. It's very interesting. I think Jack McCallum invited Almu to have lunch sometime. Maybe we will know more details from Almu after they meet.

brown definately likes pistons more than rockets, you guys need to understand that and quit putting him on your #1 list. If the dude doesnt have us on his #1 list, then why should we put him #1?

When asked if he was interested in the rockets job,he replied "no comment".
When asked about the pistons job ,he replied happily "OF COURSE im interested...friends with Vp...etc..."

You can tell in browns langugue that the reason he has postponed signing with houston for the past week is because he simply is not %100 sure if he likes houston. Or why else would he bother to talk to pistons,clippers,wizards.....

i don't think he's signed yet. I think the rockets will be given 1 last chance to make some kind of offer to brown and he's waiting on it. Larry Browns seems like sometimes he doesn't even know what he's doing. Until it's official don't count out the impossible happening.

To East conference team will beat the West conference team at this point. The Nets are a good team but the Spurs are better.

Now they have "confirmed" that he will be introduced tomorrow as the Pistons head coach.

    Idiots.

On a sidenote, "Karl Maloney" is being escorted by the Dallas Maverics.

well... then Van Gundy or Dunleavy will be the next choice.

Can't go wrong with either of them

So if the article is correct the Pistons didn't fire Carlisle until they knew they could get Brown. It sounds like Brown was working this behind the scenes and wasn't sincerely interested in the Houston job when CD and Les offered it to him.

Brown and the Pistons mgt. seem like they are made for each other.

So we don't get a bandaid and temporary fix man in Brown. He used to be my first choice, but he isn't head and shoulders above the other guys.

So long Larry, enjoy your new home.

i agree...i was pissed off yesterday not because Brown took the Pistons job..it was b/c he took the job less than a day after Carlisle got fired...at least give Carlisle some respect and wait a day or 2. i guess that's how a coach with a business-like mind works......

Jeff Van Gundy and Mike Dunleavy, either one i wouldn't mind having as a coach.

When i heard how much Mike wanted the job i thought it was nice to hear. He let it be known this where he wanted to be.

When i heard that Jeff told the cavs GM that players earn playing time by playing and that he would not agree to play a certain player a certain amount of minutes each game so the team could market him i thought that was also good.

If Mobley, or Francis or Griffin aren't playing like they should then Jeff will fix the situation.

so as i said, either way i'll be happy

I just heard on ESPN Radio...they were interviewing a reporter from Detroit News (Chris M....). The reporter said that Larry Brown with the Pistons is a done deal - 100%

I bet it goes farther than that. My guess is that when Dumars heard Brown was getting restless in Philly, he talked to him about the possibility -- maybe even during the conference semis series. Brown's meeting with the Rockets was probably just to avoid the possibility of tampering charges being levied at the Pistons.

that's what i'm thinking too. b/c there is no way that they could have made this transaction so quickly w/o having contact with eachother....sickens me when i think about it.

    ESPN confirms as well....

Brown, Pistons reportedly have 5-year, $25 million deal

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ESPN.com news services

DETROIT -- Larry Brown will be introduced as the coach of the Detroit Pistons at a news conference Monday, a source within the league said.

Brown reached an agreement on a long-term deal to succeed fired coach Rick Carlisle, the source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told The Associated Press on Saturday.

Pistons spokesman Kevin Grigg said Sunday he could not confirm a news conference would be held.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Inquirer also is reporting the deal, citing unnamed sources who confirmed that Brown, 62, agreed to a five-year, $25 million contract with Detroit, the same team he lost to in the playoffs two weeks ago.

"As I've said before, the team that hires me will be the one to make the announcement," Brown told the Inquirer. "I won't do it. I'm not confirming nor denying anything. That's the way it has to be."

ESPN reported Saturday that Brown had not made a decision yet at that time, and that he was expected to choose between Detroit and Houston within the next 72 hours.

Brown did not immediately return a phone message left Sunday at his home by The Associated Press.

Carlisle was fired on Friday after leading the Pistons to a 50-win season and a spot in the conference finals for the first time since 1991.

Brown resigned as coach of the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday after six seasons.

This just doesn't make sense to me. The Pistons in this years playoffs under Rick C. beat the Sixers under L. Brown. And now the Pistons just fire the winning coach and hire the losing coach???Go figure!

For the little that it's worth, Dan Patrick had Larry Brown's brother on the radio. the Brother didn't think that Brown had made up his mind. He thought that Brown was takign the weekend to think about it. He thought brown would methodically make a list of pros and cons and reach a decision that way.

I think we're screwed, and Detroit didn't bother with the KY. I know, this is totally inappropriate, but I'm so depressed. I think this is where the old, depressing saying kicks in...

hope is a denial of reality.
