Horry is NOT better than Artis Gilmore or Dennis Johnson. Or Bernard King. Or Rodman (nice try trying to get himself aligned with an all time great rebounder there). Has there ever been a player in the Hall who played a full NBA career without going to ONE All Star game?

But if they put Horry in for the Fame instead if the greatness I wouldnt be too upset. He can go in as NBA special teams player or something

And he's considered a hero in 3 different cities.

    In Houston
    In LA
    In San Antonio

Also in Philly, cause that song Summertime is a classic

I'm waiting for the Robert Horry movie to come out. I wonder who would play him?

That's actually a good point... not among the greatest players of any season, but yet, voted among the greatest of all time? Even better. :D

I remember Horry saying "they tried to trade me because I was hesitant to take the big shot, so from then on I had nothing to loose".

That trade that didn't go through for Elliot, that created Horry IMO. Wow. Great story.

I'd like to see him in the HOF, just because I followed him meticulously his rookie year. Because him and Sam took us all the way, twice. Because when he and Sam left for Barkley, I cried. I would put him in the HOF for purely personal reasons.

Horry had the guts and the length and the luck to have the amazing playoff career that he has had. I'd say he is underrated. He was clutch, he was tested, he knew the big stage. He just didn't create all those situations for himself, that would be his only flaw if you can call that a flaw. That is why he won't get into the HOF.

Exactly. This is why he is notable. That's not to say he was a bad player. He was a good player, and clutch, like everyone says. But, it's not like he put those 7 teams on his back and willed them to victory. That was luck.

You simply cannot compare game-winners from December and February to those in May and June. The stakes are just so much higher and the pressure so much greater. Horry is a proven commodity.

If you're going penalize Horry for being on the right teams at the right time, then Phil Jackson should be removed from the Hall for never winning anything without Jordan, O'Neal, or Bryant.

Robert Horry is a topic that Rocket fans , Spurs fans, and Lakers fans can agree on.

    He's a hero.

I like Bob and all, but I don't see him as a HOFer. He made some huge shots...no denying it, but I don't think that alone makes him a great player. I actually think he could have had a better work ethic and been a better player. He couldn't create his own shot. Played decent defense and got some blocks and rebounds. The only area he really stood out was making a handful of big shots. Don't mean to take away from the importance of those shots, but no HOF vote here.

What about his defense with all those teams?
What about his record # of steals in an NBA finals game?
what about his key rebounds vs Charles Barkley in game 5 in Phoenix?
    what about his block shots?
what about his assists? like the pass to Mario Elie in game 7?

Offense always stands out. Nobody shows replays of Horry's picks or how he alters people's shots by his length.

It's just selective 'espn memory' about this guy.

Yes you're right. Still doesn't make him HOF worthy

Robert Horry's name needs to be at the top of a list on a plaque in the back of the HOF.

    What about all of those?

Im sure I can pick out 20 great plays that xavier mcdaniel had on the court as well. Or Vernon Maxwell. Or Bill Cartwright.

You have to look at a player dominating consistently...Horry did not do that. Its great that he hit shots here and there (big ones). Its awesome that he had a key rebound here or there. Its bad ass that he got a few steals here or there. However, that makes him a good player, not a Hall of Famer.

There are too many players not in the Hall of Fame that deserve to be there over Horry.

If I was in Robert's shoes, I could care less if I ever got inducted because getting those seven championship rings top such an induction. If there was a chance I had to trade those championship rings for a HOF induction, I would never do it.

There are so many HOF inductees that got in without ever capturing a championship ring, much less have a chance to get one, so therefore, if I was Robert, I would only be glad to not be one of those players. :D

Your logic makes no sense. If the pressure is greater in the playoffs and Finals, and Robert Horry is to be credited with greatness because he excels in those situations, why is he average-to-below average when the game isn't on the line? Is he some sort of Bizarro player?

Ok, and? lol. Of course Phil Jackson having those players helped him win. So now... back to Horry...

Robert Horry is a great player, there's no doubt about that. Probably the best role player in the last 20 years. But the fact of the matter is that he wouldn't have won without Shaq, Kobe, Hakeem, Robinson, Duncan, etc.
There's no doubt either that he was a major contributor for all 7 of his championship teams, but it's hard to convince me that he deserves to be in the HOF when he was average in the regular season with some good games in the playoffs.
