I think you meant Foye, but I edited it because I completely forgot about Thomas for some reason.

Whether you love or hate Morrison (I personally don't care for the guy) if he's available at #8, there is no way you pass on him, especially if you're going BPA which is what I think we're gonna do.

The main problem is that TMac is going to have to move back to SG, I don't think any of us (including TMac and JVG) like that idea. But Morrison is a Top 3 calibur player and if he fell, we can always find a place for his shooting, scoring, and toughness.

My thoughts exactly. After reading the writeups, I thought Carney, Gay, or Brewer would be the best JVG fit. Gay won't last to the #8 pick but Carney or Brewer should. Both play SG, so TMac gets to defend at the 3. All is good.

Why is moving Tmac to the 2 gaurd a bad idea? Hes had some of his best seasons as a gaurd.

cuz then he would have to defend the quicker guard. there are more superstars at the SG position than SF. plus on defense, he would just need to follow his SF man then extend his arm when he shoots, then using energy moving his feet to a qucker guard

while i dont think he's the type of player the rockets needs, i'll be very happy if we get him ... but he'll never be available at #8, except if the teams are scared about his condition (diabete) ... rhaaa, if only we could have 2 top ten picks :(

And I think teams are. Combine that with the fact that his workouts may show him to be less than overwhelmingly athletic, I could see him dropping.

Roy is as close to surefire as you get in this draft.
Marcus Williams is virtually the only option if you need a point.
Aldridge is a legit PF/C
Tyrus Thomas has way higher a ceiling than Morrison
Gay has a more NBA-ready game
Bargnani is going to go top 5, even if the team hasn't even worked him out (stupid, stupid, stupid)
Those 6 plus Morrison are your top tier in the draft, and the difference between Rudy Gay and Morrison isn't much at all. Only Roy, Gay, and Williams are polished. Bargnani, Aldridge, and Thomas could all potentially be franchise guys at some point or busts with equal probability. Don't discount the possibility of one of these 7 dropping. Paul Pierce's drop was more shocking.

Would not be surprised to see Ty Thomas drop or even Bargnani drop if the Raps don't take him. But Roy and dropping past us and Morrison is going to wind up in Charlotte or Portland. He's too good of a player for Charlotte at a needed position and he is the perfect fit for a struggling Portland franchise looking for a hard-working, good attitude American Baller with some skills. Plus he's a Northeastern kid. Portland has to want that kid.

Can't see Gay dropping past Minny.

No he didn't. Not your fault for reporting it though. They just messed up on their math. I added it up and he was actually 75/110 (68.2%), which by their little rating system they gave is just short of "excellent" for a private workout. What I'm impressed with was his 46/50 performance from 18-20 feet. That is freaking lethal.

I just e-mailed them about the mistake.

NBADraft.net is projecting Morrisson as #1 now ... somehow doubt he'll drop to #8.

draftexpress reports that houston is in the mix to deal for the #1 or #2 pick, to get Morrison  but they also report that we're talking with orlando to swap picks, so ...

I'd love to have Morrison, but it scares me to think about what we'd have to give up in order to leap frog to 1 or 2 to get him...

I looked on draft express and didn't see anything about the Rockets trading up. Maybe I just missed it.

I thought the same, but there's a part where they mention that roughly 6 teams are rumored to be in the hunt for the #1 or #2 pick, and Houston is one of the teams listed. They also mention that, according to them, Morrison is the likely target.

It's on RealGM from DraftExpress:

Six Teams In Hunt To Move Up To Draft Morrison?

DraftExpress - 06/20 - 2:57 AM EST
Information DraftExpress.com received on Monday says that as many as six teams are currently in the hunt to trade up for the #1 or #2 pick, and that it's likely Adam Morrison that they covet.

The six teams are Minnesota, Boston, Houston, Phoenix, Portland and Charlotte. Morrison could very well conduct workouts with the teams that appear most serious about trading up in the draft to get him.

why are we going after the top 1 and 2. I don't understand. I don't see Roy going 3. I can see Gay and Morrison going 3rd and 4th. Does that mean we are after Gay or Morrison. Are we chasing GAY. I really think Rockets are looking to acquire Gay. His height and skills can certainly give us that 3rd scorer. I think Gay will be better then brewer but brewer is more NBA ready than Gay right now.

Now if we do swap with Orlando then i don't think we will get Ronnie Brewer. I think Orlando will take him. I have no clue what Rockets are thinking. They should have a great player in brewer available and they should take him rather then hoping he will be available at 11.
