CNN's Rick Sanchez fired after explosive interview on satellite radio

i do like the sklar brothers. i think one of them is jewish.

 

I would say he he implied that Jews are very well represented in management positions in the media, and it is silly to compare their situation to other minorities like Hispanics.

To me, that's different then "the media is controlled by Jews". That has a conspiracy vibe to it -- like all the Jews are closely working together to dominate over us.

Probably something a lot, lot worse than what he said.

 

deservedly so - rick sanchez is a moran who had no business being an anchor. cnn was unbearable to watch w/ him on. just a total buffoon. i think cnn knew this and just used his comments as an excuse to dump his ass.

i dont even think he meant what he said - his mouth just got out infront of his brain, which if you watch him enough, you know he does all the time.

 

I never have watched him so thanks for the post. I figured it was probably based on performance and what he said then a global jewish media conspiracy.

 

Indeed. Folks can make excuses for the chump, if they like, but I can't imagine why. He was a joke as a journalist. His show was an embarrassment to the idea of actual news coverage on a cable news network. If he was any more of a lightweight, they could have done a 3D flick about the cat floating aound and dangling from a balloon, supported by his own gaseous torso. It is "newspersons" like Sanchez that cause the public to become cynical about the news. "All" Sanchez did was give a glimmer of a view into the darkness that is his small mind, a mind better left to spin somewhere in a world of his own creation, where guys like Stewart are bigots, instead of the brilliant satirist most of the rest of us know, who gives a more honest account of the news than anything Sanchez has ever done.

 

Mel Gibson might have a part for him in this new movie.

 

While I agree with you about Sanchez, I don't think CNN's decision was based on finding something else more substantial. One of their upcoming programs is a debate show between the disgraced Eliot Spitzer and Kathleen Parker, where apparently they have the ability to "mute" each other. Their golden era of respectability, whenever that could be, is behind them.

Wow, Sanchez straight up calls Jon a bigot primarily because The Daily Show makes fun of him a lot.

 

And they say Jon Stewart is only there for comedy.

Stewart is the most feared media man in America. You don't wanna get on his bad side. This guy has single-handedly become a strong media figure while being shielded from too much criticism because of the comedy label.

Everyone eats up what he says. He's allowed to push the limits. He can blast other media peeps knowing that if the same is said about him, he can dismissively state "My show airs between puppets who make prank calls and a fake police show". He's not supposed to be taken seriously but yet he is and he wants to be.

Glenn Beck is the polar opposite. Here's a guy whose show is pure comedy but is sold as "news".

 

Cheap Seats was probably the greatest late night programming in the history of television. Really not sure why ESPN Classic doesn't have that and SportsCentury on a permanent loop.

CNN is well known for it's anti-semitism.

 

Rick Sanchez accuses Steward of bigotry because Sanchez is Latino/Cuban. I don't see how bigotry can have anything to do with it since (a) Sanchez very much look and sound like your standard-issued white guy (maybe one who spent some time in the tanning bed), and (b) nothing Steward made fun of him for has anything to do with being Latino/Cuban (unless I am just not aware of the widespread stereotype that Latinos/Cubans are ignorant loud-talking dumbasses).


Sanchez says Stewart was bigoted "toward anybody who doesn't agree with his point of view, which is very much a white liberal establishment point of view."

Not sure how, for example, any of the jokes in the tsunami clip posted above has anything to do with white liberal establishment. White liberal establishmnet know metric system?

 

Sanchez is a White Hispanic Cuban, who actually looks less ethnic than Stewart. It was a weird rant, but I don't think it goes far enough to be called anti-Semitic.

Aside from that, Sanchez always struck me as the Dan Quayle of news anchors, so I never paid any attention to him.
