Hmm.... No surprise here... the media is overwhelmingly liberal... further support for my (now obvious) conclusion...

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19113485

MSNBC.com identified 144 journalists who made political contributions from 2004 through the start of the 2008 campaign, according to the public records of the Federal Election Commission. Most of the newsroom checkbooks leaned to the left: 125 journalists gave to Democrats and liberal causes. Only 17 gave to Republicans. Two gave to both parties.

First of all, I'll give you credit for being very honest in your approach. While I strongly disagree with your views, I definitely say you seem genuinely interested in debate and keeping an open mind.

Ok - I don't think changing administrations clears our nation's name in whatever blood we engaged in. Especially since it wasn't the current's president's father!

Secondly, giving money to the families of suicide bombers is not supporting terrorists. The families were not involved in the plotting of the attack, more often, they are upset at having just lost a son or daughter. Clearly Saddam is doing it more as a slap in the face to Israel, but it's not terrorism in any sense of the word. How does it facilitate terrorism?

Many have argued, and I would agree to a large extent, that Israel's actions over the years, and as recently as actions in Lebanon constitue acts of terrorism. Israeli military handling of Palestinian civilians have been reknowned to draw protests from groups around the world.

At the end of the day, I believe we need to remain in Iraq for a bit more time. We've lost the war, and can not prevent a civil war from erupting. All we can do is try to prepare the Iraqi army for the impending strife and potential fracturing of the country.

But criticism of the war is key. Without it, there would be no pressure to come to take action for a resolution. Without it, we'd remain in Iraq endlessly, spilling American blood for decades upon no end. It's a quaqmire. The purpose of the other side is to prevent abuse by one. This is why balanced gov't is key.

The adminstration used 9/11 to invade Iraq, and I will personally never forgive them for that, and hope history sets an example that no one will ever try to repeat. That's why it's important to get rid of this president, punish him in some way, so no other future president will try the same kind of garbage.

Is bush's father a terrorist? Is that what you are saying? Shouldn't he be hung like Saddam then? I just think you're opening up a huge can there with your line of thinking..[/QUOTE]

I think he should be hung or at least revoked from his astros season tickets!

    case and point:

Before "operation:Just Cause",H.W and Manuel noriega would meet in luxurious resorts across Central America to express their love relationship physically. In exchange for those romantic moments,H.W would allow Noriega to venture North America, whenever he pleased.Blinded by love,Bush never saw that Noriega was a murderer and a Drug traffiker.Instead,H.W gave him money to splurge, never really knowing where the money was going. :p

You can believe my theory from above;or this theory that is backed up by history......

So a family member can be held responsible for someone else's actions? But you said:
Can the family be held responsible for the actions of another family member or not?
It can facilitate terrorism because the bombers know that their family will be receiving that money. It would be much tougher for a young man to abandon his family and throw his life away killing innocent civilians if he didn't know that his family would be taken care of. Imagine if the US gave 10 times the per capita GDP to someone to enlist in the military. Don't you think a $440,000 bonus would affect recruitment, even if it only went to the family, not the recruit?
Israel doesn't intentionally target civilians. That is the key distinction.
Suffice it to say that I disagree with you on pretty much everything wrt the war.

No, Bush Jr. isn't responsible for Bush Sr's action. BUt I'd say Bush Jr has done more to terrorize the world then any other president in American history. I think there's likely well over 5 billion people who really hate the man.

And I don't think these bombers are doing it to get money for their families. It's clear that they are doing it because they have been brainwashed and are in an ironic twist, going down the same ideological path to an extreme that many right-wingers are walking down as well.

I turly wish for America, the world, Muslims, everyone - that we could put Christian, Jewish, and Muslim fundamentalists all on the same place (say Austrailia) and just let them have it out. Really sick of all of them.

Anyway, we'll just have to disagree. You support the war and think it's great. I think it was an utter disaster - everyone knew this woudl turn into Vietnam II except Bush and Co. And I guess you don't see that either.

    Oh well.
