Sometimes we just have to accept that we cannot control the universe and make our existence and our world into what we desire. Some things are just out of our control.
Take the f_cking gun control debate to the D&D. I swear to god, I've generally been in favor of the right to gun ownership, but the asshats in this thread that are wasting no time in pimping this tragedy to jump on their gun rights hobby horse is making me sick.
I agree with what you are saying, but At the same time you cant send out a mass email to X amount of students at a big university saying SHOTS FIRED SHOTS FIRED! PEOPLE KILLED! NO CLASS!, minutes after a chaotic event such as this. most kids prob dont even check their school email that often. I think its horrible to start pointing fingers at the school administration/police for this, when the low-life who actually carried out these murders gets off because he killed himself (supposedly). Its easy to criticize peoples actions after the event, but lets just pray for the victims and not point fingers about what could have done differently when we dont even know half the facts at this point
Thank GOD for the ability to amend it ! I have no problem with people being allowed to carry Muskets....or single shot long rifles. DD
SKY NEWS: Witnesses said he was heavily armed and entered the college looking for his girlfriend... He reportedly lined up students and opened fire at them. He was said to be an Asian, in his mid-20s... Death toll is now over 32. ...debate gun control all you want...but there is something seriously wrong with our culture outside of that issue. This just makes me want to cry.
Exactly. It's too early to start second guessing everyone. Many times, the people in charge don't have the luxury of TIME (like we do after the fact) to decide how to act.
Amazing account from one of the students inside. http://video.msn.com/v/us/msnbc.htm...8092-1b2919150b5b&p=hotvideo_m_vatech&t=m5&rf
If the reports are true and there were 2 hours in between, shouldn't police have surrounded the campus to look for the shooter immediately after the initial incident?
wikipedia says one killed and four wounded in the initial shooting at 7:15am. Looks like the first shooting is already more than a simple revenge killing.
Absolutely. All I'm saying is that it's too early to know if the reports are true or not. I remember Columbine, the early reports were that there were as many as 6 shooters. Witnesses were saying things like they had to climb over piles of dead bodies in the stairwell and that they saw people getting shot as late as 4pm. As it turned out, there were only 2 shooters and they were both dead by 11:30. No bodies were even found in the stairwell. I'm just saying it's too early to know exactly what happened.
I agree it might be fitting, but then again how many of the people would have actually gotten the email? and would it have made any kind of a difference? I remember after 9/11 going to class at UT and half the people saying classes are canceled (when they really weren't) This "person" was determined to take innocent lives no matter what the cost, according to the victims he didnt even say a word just went into classrooms and started shooting! If there werent people in a classroom he couldve gone into other dorm rooms....its just a tragic event and maybe we can figure a way to prevent something similar from happening again. but i am not going to start blaming school officials for this.
Easy to say when you're not one of the people who was still supposed to attend class and make an easy target for a nut case.
