Was it the same shooter? If it was, the police should be fully responsible for this. They thought they had things under control when the shooter wasn't even caught?

i don't know if it was teh same shooter. but whether it is or not, classes should have been cancelled. you can't just send out an email stating to be careful. what do they expect students to do? where a helmet and a bullet proof vest?

I am assuming most of you aren't outdoorsmen like myself....but I am an avid waterfowl (bird) hunter who uses hunting message boards........

Anyway.....this is probably going to lead to some tougher gun laws. As Americas we reserve the right for the second amendment to not be infringed. I can see some gun laws being passed.

I also think students should be able to have their "concealed handgun license" and be able to carry a gun on a school campus.

I'm as pro-gun as anyone. But this is a ridiculous statement.

LOL, people think allowing 'normal' people to carry guns will prevent these things from happening? You do realize sometimes 'normal' people can turn 'pyscho' due to many reasons right? And especially in college, students like to get drunk and rowdy ... if they all carried guns, *gulp* ... heck, if EVERYONE in America had a handgun by their side...then I can only assure you crime would be up.

So called “Authorities” have made our schools and colleges “Gun Free Zones” which means that only criminals and terrorists can enter with a gun.

Had Virginia Tech been protected by armed security guards as well allowing responsible staff and professors to have concealed firearms, then the killer wouldn’t have had free reign to keep shooting until his ammo ran out. He might have shot several people, but someone would have stopped him rather than becoming another unarmed victim.

It should be illegal for a government or business to keep honest citizens from providing for their own protection, unless that government or business provides sufficient armed security to protect those they disarmed.

Until those who would disarm us leave us like sheep are voted out of office, we will see more of these mass killings.

Terrorists were killing school kids in Israel until staff and teachers started carrying firearms, and that deterred most of the attacks and the few that still happened were ended quickly before the death toll mounted.

It is doubtful that a school shooting would take place in Switzerland because there every adult male is required by law to keep an assault rifle and handgun. The government subsidizes the production of military ammunition and then sells it to its citizens at cost.
Because of this, crime is almost non-existent in Switzerland because every criminal and terrorists knows that everyone is armed. This long standing gun ownership policy kept Adolf Hitler from invading Switzerland during World War II.

These "douchebags" commit less crime than the rest of people BY FAR.

with an emphasis on violent crime.

it's my understanding that the gun-free zone regulations don't keep schools from having armed security. i know school district police still carry guns when they enter gun-free campuses.

I know in high school there is an armed security guard (police officer), but in colleges, the ones I have been to, there is just patrol officers in the vicinity.

For the love of PETE !! Can we get some gun controls in this FRICKEN country.

They banned them in the UK and Australia, and they have FAR less gun crimes now......even percentage wise to the USA.

This is ludicrous. 32 reportd dead now !!!!

College students are one of the most immature and irresponsible segments of society. I don't say that as an insult, simply as the truth.

By and large they simply haven't reached full maturity yet. They are still learning that. And you want to allow them to be armed? Sheesh, prepare to read about alot more killings every time one of them goes binge drinking and starts feeling crazy. Or whenever they're having girl problems. Do you even remember how much the pain of a broken heart stings when it's the first time, and you're young and stupid? College students having guns on campus is a recipe for disaster.

Good counterpoint. I agree that we should let select people carry guns in public places to keep them safe. However, allowing everyone (ie. students on campus) to carry guns would be ridiculous, which is what an above poster suggested.
