i tend to agree. that doesn't mean we do nothing. i don't think poverty is going away either...doesn't mean i don't want to do something about it.
Just clips. It wasn't really as interesting as you might think. He's basically just rambling a bunch of nonsense about not being appreciated. "The blood is on your hands" and "you made me do this" type stuff. He never goes into any detail about anything and never expresses his motive. That's why I don't think there's anything to 'learn' from these tapes. Seriously, they're just nonsense.
Mother Teresa - People Are Often Unreasonable You may not agree with the religion, but the philosophy is great.
I haven't followed the story much to this point, but from the pictures of the victims it appears that there were no Asians killed or wounded. Is this correct?
the media should stop broadcasting this utter crap, its exactly what he wants. so many people cant even afford college, and he is talking about he is poor blah blah blah, get over yourself. most ppl got picked on at some point in their life, stop being a emo turd and toughen up. jesus was screwed over sure, but i dont think jesus went on a rampage in a school against innocent ppl. let this ****er's name die, and remeber the victims instead of focusing on this piece of ****.
Henry Lee-Killed. Vietnamese G.V. Loganathan-Killed. Indian Partahi Mamora Halomoan Lumbantoruan-Killed. Indonesian Mary Karen Read-Killed. Half Korean
Incorrect as has been pointed out in the above post. If you're trying to make it a racial thing, it had nothing to do with that, cause the fact is that school had a very low asian population to begin with. His former roommates immediately thought it was cho when they heard the shooter was asian cause they thought he was capable of doing that and because they said they didn't know many asians cause there aren't too many at the school.
The materials in the package shall be shown to the world. We want to know what push the gunman over the edge for doing what he did. The whole world want to know what had happened in VT. He is to be blamed for this tragedy and so is this society. We want to learn from this whole fiasco and not shy away from it.
You want to know what pushed him over the edge. Most of us realize he's just crazy and unstable. Society is not to blame. Cho is to blame.
True Cho is to blame for his actions, but to completely ignore the role society played is an ignorant view point in my opinion. People aren't born as mass murderers or suddenly wake up one day and decide to be one. The rage and anger built up in him through years of abuse he went through. Now I'm not painting him as a victim cause he was a psychopath, but you can't just turn a blind eye to what caused him to do that, otherwise you'll be just ignoring the problems which cause people to turn into someone like him.
The kid was crazy and thats the bottomline... he probably couldn't handle school and went ballistic, the guy was an english major but his videos are all incoherent and sound like bull****... let this guy go to hell and lets focus on the victims!
Wow. I don't watch cable news, but wow. In that one stroke they disrespected the victims and the intelligence/humanity of their viewers.
But the justifications for blaring the video are weak. Let's try to understand crazy. It's more like slop in the trough. It's not like repressed loners just popped up 40 years ago. Obviously, society thinks that's a tough nut to crack.
Actually, some people are born mass murderers. People who study these types of things would say so, at least. There's always stories of kids who take pleasure in seeing animals die when they're little. Some people are just imbalanced to begin with. You ARE painting him as a victim by saying he did this because he was bullied. Being bullied sucks. Thousands of kids are bullied every day. This guy decided to kill people. The thousands of others did not. Society did not cause this problem. This guy chose to behave in this manner. Any attempt to state otherwise is just an attempt to take the responsibility away from this kid.
I don't think he specifically targetted non-Asians. I highly doubt this guy made a conscious effort to avoid shooting the Asians. On the flip side, the Media is trying to make this a race issue. Displaying the picture of the Killer with the Korean flag on the background (WTF??), or making a weak correlation between Cho and Korean pop culture. We are talking about prominent News outlets here: NYTIMES, ABCNEWS, USATODAY, ETC ETC. They continuously emphasize "Korean National", but not as a "Green Card Holder". (who moved to Washington DC suburb at the age of 8.) Never do we hear "Westfield High School graduate" or "Stone Middle School graduate". I really dislike the handling of this by the Media and also the Korean government (for apologizing). They should not be apologizing because that implies guilt when there is no guilt. It's one thing to feel ashamed, as I do, and another to be sorry.
He's dead. My concern is for the next idiotic sickos that are willing to kill themselves and others for this type of fame. NBC sux.
I appreciate you and Weslinder's attitude about this. I admit sometimes I have a dark view of humanity and something like this just seems to confirm it.
I don't feel ashamed about this as an Asian but I do feel ashamed that many of us feel we have to apologize as a group. This was one twisted individual who doesn't represent us anymore than Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold represents White America.
