yeah Chris Rock had a good joke about them, which I completely agreed with. His take was that the Columbine guys had like 6 friends and that they had more friends than he did in High School lol
I dont have a source but the korean community up here in MD,VA, DC have leaked that Cho's father has commited suicide with the shame that his son was wrought. The perb has caused another victim to die, his own dad! Sorry...my above post is only partially correct ^
to backup RedRacer's post... https://www.koreaherald.co.kr/SITE/data/html_dir/2007/04/18/200704180092.asp again they might just be in the hospital cuz of the mental trauma, but the rumors are there as RedRacer said.
They just had Cho's aunt on CNN. She said the parents were always worried about their son and just didn't know what to do although they never believed it would go this far. She then said she didn't believe he would cause this much carnage either. She then called him an idiot.
I really dont agree with this part of your post. Why you end up pointing fingers at the Cho's family? How do you know that Cho's family prefer to pay for his sister's tuition than a psychiatrist? That's where hate starts. As for what I know, there is very little information about the Cho's family in the media. The other thing is: "Have you ever dealing with a mentally ill relative/family member in your life?". At the beginning, It is very difficult to identify whether a person is just a weirdo or loner or mentally ill. Sometimes, a weirdo or loner behaviour can be a transitional thing. It can come and go at certain stages in ones' life. It's like a poster mentioned his friend finds JC, gets laid and becomes normal. Even if you can identify a person is mentally ill, the medication part can be very complicated and exhausted even if you are dedicated to help out this person. Most of the mentally ill person who are in no danger to the others are out at home because hosiptals wont keep them. It all depends on this mentally ill person's self consiouness to recognise himself as mentally ill and his willingness to take medication. It's never easy. Just think about how many people will admit they are actually crazy?
MadMax, Well said. Hotballa, Even if we don't care a thing about this guy, we have to find out what make people like him tick and try to prevent them. If we don't, we bound to see another carnage in our future.
rage, it coulda been anything that set this guy off. maybe it was the way people smelled, or the way the sun was in his eyes every morning when he woke up. When a person is mentally ill, you could do everything possible, and he might stil go crazy on you. if he was a loner, what can you do about that? force people into the elementary school buddy system until they're 50?
The backlash against the broadcast of the killer's manifesto is making headway. FOX News has said they will not air the tape anymore.
We never stop people like him. People have killing for millions of years and they will continue to do it. 170 people died in IRAQ yesterday. Stuff like this happens and there isn't much you can really do it. You can only try your best to prevent stuff like this.
here's one of the victims who attented the same school the Killer did. It appeared that she lived only blocks away from Cho's home in Washington suburbs. It's not clear wether Cho singled her out. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Th5I0_1QDwc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Th5I0_1QDwc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> R.I.P
Sorry RM, but that's kinda bass-ackwards. Journalistic integrity.. what happened to it? Before releasing news, organizations, writers, editors, need to ask themselves, what good, if any, will this do? Is this good for society, who will benefit, whom will be hurt? They didn't do that in this case. They saw a chance for ratings and they went with money instead of with their responsibility to us..
I'm very glad this is the case. I spent all day at work talking to clients about the massacre and how dumb I thought it was of NBC and every major news outlet to take this "manifesto" and put it on a national platform.. just what he wanted. How freaking pathetic is our media...
I don't disagree with this. I just feel that ever since the O.J. case and the Monica Lewinsky stuff, this is what most of the news has become. When they're making money off of this, they're not going to stop until the profits run dry. I think the audience is as much to blame as the media. As a society, we eat this stuff up. I think it's our responsibility to demand better.
I look at it in the sense that the media is holding the fish food and we're the fish. They put it in the tank and we're not supposed to eat it? Not likely. We'll eat whatever we get... its up to them to decide... its just far too much to ask that the masses essentially overthrow or change our media culture... it has to happen from within. If the news is about making money, we're kinda f***ed as a society.
I'd say we're ****ed then. In our capitalist society, there's no way the media's going to stop what brings in the money.
