NYT reported the gunman was a Korean American named Seung-Hui Cho living in Fairfax County, VA! http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/17/us/17virginia.html?hp ‘Horror and Disbelief’ at Virginia Tech This morning, the gunman was identified as Seung-Hui Cho, according to federal law enforcement authorities. He was described as being an Asian male student who lived on campus, but no other details were released.
Oops. He is a South Korean National with Green Card.... http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=3048108&page=1
Exactly. Thats 30K+ people for what appeared to be an isolated incident. The blaming of the school/police is getting ridiculous. I couldn't even watch some of the news last night, it was so bad. At least wait until all/some of the facts are known.
Motives???? I've heard theories that the shooter had a major failure complex. Failed girlfriend relationship. Failed academics. Failed esteem. Is the pressure at school really that bad these days? theSAGE
I agree. I think some people are just predisposed to finger pointing. It must help them cope with and compartmentalize such tragic information. Unfortunately, there's a herd mentality amongst them, and the ramifications of their finger pointing becomes a second tragedy.
Apparently the guy bought the gun in March. How can a guy on a green card, who is not even a US citizen get a gun so easily? DD
If you know so much about guns you would know that magazine is the supply chamber for bullets into the firing chamber. Many guns have magazines where only one cartridge can be loaded at a time into the magazine, such as in pump action shotguns. Automatics use a removable clip magazine where the cartridges can be pre-loaded and then the clips loaded. I suspect you are doing this to try to show that you know more about guns and that all magazines are rapid loading but if you do you should then know that not all magazines are clips and clips are rapid loading magazines.
Gun ownership isn't limited to US citizens and further Virginia has some of the country's laxest gun laws.
Do you know the difference between Canada and The United States? Cananda has lesser violence than United States. They both have ethnic diversities surrounding everywhere and yet, U.S still tops in violent killing spree? I just don't get it sometimes??
Every citizen should have a gun at all times. That way.....if someone comes in and wants to shoot someone......he will know everyone around him is armed. Problem solved.
I don't know about Canada as whole, but Montreal is very diverse. And has an extremely low homicide rate.
