Come-on, the author does need to sell the article. Granted, to call us the biggest dissappointment is far strecthed. But let's not pick bones from eggs. I am also eager to see a changed Rocket's team, but I didnt see that from the trade we made and from the game we had been playing up until last night. We are making cosmetic changes over an ugly face (20 mil locked up for the 4 spot, and no legit PG)
So all of the 31 shots he had made were good shots? I know it's a little bit harsh on Tmac. But we cant be good if he takes on 4 other players all by himself.
you misunderstand. i think we are easily the most dissapointing team this season. don't think thats far fetched at all.
Are you serious? Tmac gets to the line? How many times? For a superstar like him 9 FTA is the minimum, especially with his FG%.
it is a tough but fair commentry given TMac's recent Orlando experience. if ole man grumpy's sole solution is giving him carte blanche ala his last year with the Tragic ... this won't be the last time the parallel is made obvious.
I find myself slightly aroused at the thought that a cnnsi.com writer resides at our little BBS. hmm, perhaps TMI?
Depends on the kind of superstar. Some live in the paint and average lots of FTs (Kobe, Shaq, etc.) Some live on the perimeter and average less FTs (KG and T-Mac).
If you shoot 30 times with poor FG% and seldom get to the line, you essentially hurt your team. YOur teammates would have more chance to make the shots. By the way, in terms of dominance KG < Shaq or Duncan, Tmac < Kobe
I'm not going to pretend the team has it's problems right now and has throughout the season, but I am amazed at how much the national media keeps jabbing the organization and the players. Every where you read about last night's game it seems every article says something along the lines of, "The Rockets pulled out a victory although LeBron only played the first half." On Sportcenter, when showing the highlight of the game right after they mentioned TMac scoring 34, they threw in, "Oh yea, it took him 30 shots to get it." Freaking TMac had that crazy 360 dunk down the baseline yet the one-handed dunk by Varejao made the Top 10 Plays. I don't get it. I know I am coming off as a major Rocket fan, but I don't see or read these types of things when it comes to LeBron, Kobe, Carmello or Wade. Plus, the highlight shows always seem to make a point to always show someone dunk even within 5 ft. of Yao. It's like the media sets out to make the team look or sound bad all the time. I know I sound pretty paranoid but I feel it's one thing to tell how it is, whether it be good or bad, but there is no need for the constant bashing. Sorry, got into a venting mode.
Yo Mo, You're right. I was at the T-mac comeback game vs. SA and called my wife as I was leaving to record Sportscenter (thinking that it would be the whole show) I get home to watch it and they only gave it about 90 seconds -Imagine that, THE BEST COMEBACK EVER and they only give us 90 seconds. Just like when the Rox won the Championship in '94 and soccer was on the cover of F'N SI. Imagine that, Soccer... really... Soccer... no I'm serious... Soccer...Are you hearing me...Soccer...LOL...Soccer...I'm still laughing...As Rodney Dangerfield would say, "No Respect"... Still...Soccer...LMFAO..Seriously...Soccer...Ha Ha...Soccer....No Dream, No Max, No Elie, No Smith, No Thorpe -just a Frickin' Soccer game.. Give me a F'N Break.
I haven't read the entire thread so if I reiterate someone's thoughts please forgive; but is it not semi-normal that the team played like crap on the day after the inexplicable JJ trade? It would get anybody down, especially since it made.... ....(dramatic freakin' pause).... ....NO SENSE WHATSOEVER.
Good job Kelly for writing an article.. I don't agree about Tmac though. Tmac should drive more..even when he doesn't get calls..h eshould do what he can do. He can do it all. Just let him do it...or run set plays..I agree with person who said that now we have two ballhandlers/passers on the court now with Tmac..Sura and Wesley and Barry. Good thing is that Wesley and Barry are pretty good shooters and I think Sura can improve his shot. This makes it easier for Tmac..and Tmac shoots that because he can make them. He needs to score because you can't depend on anyone else to really score..they are somewhat inconsistent. Actually..I would give the ball more to Howard and Mo and Sura and let them try to score..but we want Tmac and Yao to be the number one options..and other players should have roles..Whatever I hope the Rockets make the playoffs. I think we're gonna retool and get some better power forwards and maybe a better small forward as a backup..
Thank you for pointing this out. I agree that the offense should flow better now with both Barry and Wesley here to let TMac move off the ball. We should now be able to run more sets ala the 76ers - where the goal of a set play is to get your best player a good look, as opposed to always having your best player try to get good looks for whoever the defense chooses to double off of. As for this article, the whole premise is like swiss cheese.
