while homosexuality isnt stated bc the term probably wasnt coined back then, this verse is clearly referring to it. Leviticus 18:22 Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable. like Osteen said, christians need to stop singling out homosexuality because it is just one of many sins. hate sin, not the sinner.
I like your response way more than "Scripture Says It's a Sin" it's a gut thing, you either are or aren't. i don't see how politics and religion can enter a discussion about Human Sexuality.
"If you're gay you're gay." LOL. How would he know? I haven't ever heard a gay guy say I'm gay because I'm gay.
Which is pretty much my view. Conservative Christians seem to elevate homosexuality over other sins and for how few times homosexuality is alluded to in the Bible, there's just no kind of justification for that. They're much more tolerant and forgiving of adultery and that was one of the biggies listed in the 10 commandments.
Sexual relations with between a man and a man is a sin. If you've done it before that doesn't mean you're going to hell. If were a thief or you became an alcoholic at one point in your life that doesn't mean you're going straight to hell. God is merciful if you were able to correct yourself.
I wish the interviewer would have asked him more specifically...which scripture? and then asked him 'what did Jesus himself say about homosexuality?' the answer is....nothin. nathan. nada. The paucity of homosexuality in the new testament is enough for me to believe Jesus don't care about teh gay.
It's funny to hear Osteen talk about what the Bible "clearly states" when he preaches Prosperity Doctrine.
Joel is a businessman.....he is very savvy. I have known him for more than 15 years, used to play basketball with him at the Post Oak YMCA before his dad died and he took over the church. We used to ball then go to Lil Woodrows for a bucket of suds.... I am a little surprised to see what he has become based upon some of the times we had.. DD
Leviticus 18:22 Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable. i believe homosexuality is mentioned in the new testament. however, i cant recall Jesus mentioning anything about it specifically. id have to research that. however, Jesus didnt nullify the old testament, he was the fulfillment of the word of God. Jesus loved and died for all sinners.

Leviticus shouldn't count. It's Mosaic Law and most Christians believe that Old Testament law no longer applies since Jesus fulfilled the law, having never sinned, and established a New Covenant. The New Testament does seem to refer to homosexuality in a few places but that's where issues of translation come into play. Some translations do use the word "homosexual" but many, like the King James, do not and use terms ("abusers of themselves with mankind") that aren't clear.
i'm not up on what the definition of "sin" is- just a violation of the ten commandments, or is any prohibition in the bible sufficient? any reference other than ol' Levi?
“The plain meaning of the words naked man with naked man and whom Jesus loved support the conclusion that Sexual union with a man as part of the sacrament was practiced”.
biblegateway.com several translations for those who think the translation is questionable. while the wording may vary, the main idea remains the same. i saw a few mentions about homosexuality in the new testament. as far as the old testament, youd probably have to look under sexual immorality, etc. theres also the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis it is what it is. everyone has the right to pick their own religion or even choose not be believe in any religion. But the Bible is pretty clear as far a christianity. like i said before, Jesus loved and died for all sinners. hate sin, love the sinner.
