I wasn't following the news closely, but didn't Trump have some suprisingly good poll numbers for a while? My memory is that any "momentum" he might have had went away after the a couple of bad weeks which included gaffes, Obama's birth certificate release and the Bin Laden death.

He's basically completely "honest" about this all being a publicity stunt but people eat it up anyway....
