This was way better than the Republican debate, which was just a bunch of fluff. At least the Democrats are able to focus on the issues rather than mudslinging.

A lot of the republican candidates said this was boring. Debates aren't exciting events, they're for discussing issues going on in the country, something the republicans have yet to do.

I would take any of those 3 to lead this country any day over the disaster of a president any Republican would make. All of them make George Bush Jr. look competent.

Look how the debate for the actual president pulls all the right-wing rats and roaches out their holes. It's like they are already prepping for 8 more years of bashing the president.

Hillary: she seemed decently prepared for some of the questions, I'll give her that. Aside from that, she was her usual smarmy and unlikable self. Ugh.

Sanders: stumbled out of the gate but did better as the debate went on. It's very unlikely that I would vote for him, but he's one of the only candidates in either party that seems genuine and I respect that.

    O'Malley: he did OK.

Webb: he did poorly. Invoked his family way too much...reminded me of Kasich and his mailman crap. He really swung and missed on the "enemy" question with his bad joke. Came across as grouchy with all his complaining about talk time to Anderson. He looked constipated or like his tie or shirt was too tight. Just really uptight. The guy's a former Marine, and personality-wise that showed in an unsavory way. No warmth from him. The no-nonsense attitude isn't gonna endear him to many people. He has no chance to win the Dem nomination anyway...too moderate.

Chafee: LMFAO. That was the worst and most awkward debate performance I've seen from any presidential candidate - Dem or Rep - in a long time. Dude was in way over his head and he knew it. Almost felt a little sorry for him. He should have just quietly left the stage after the debate was halfway over, terminated his campaign, and went home.

    Winner was Anderson Cooper.

I don't mind politicians being boring. I don't want them to entertain me. I want them to be rational, accountable actors that make informed decisions and aren't afraid to lose points in the media beauty contest because they have principles that aren't for sale.

But disingenuous is what most politicians are, and they are that way because it's part of the job, to be whatever they need to be to their donors and their base, and whoever is at the margins of their base so they can expand it.

I have to agree with you - I always found Hilary Clinton to be a standout disingenuous opportunist, which is quite an accomplishment considering her peers, but it's also why I think Sanders makes such an intriguing candidate. He neither lies nor talks down to his audience or lets the wind change where he stands.

The republican debates is all about HATE. They hate anyone that is not a republican or conservative. They hate anyone with alternate ideas/beliefs/looks different than them.

This generation of republican candidates is a clown show like no other. I truly feel sad for Huckabee...fewer ways you can make a buffoon of yourself.

Did Lincoln Chaffee turn in one of the worst presidential debate performances of all time? I think he just might have.

Well, let's be fair now -- it was his first debate and his political career just died.

I kinda think it'd be nice if the FEC just put a hard ban on announcing or debating before the election year, just to put a short window on demagogues and freak shows having to build their brand before a primary.

Lulz. Lately I've been wondering if conservatism/Republican is actually a status thing with some people - they identify as such because they think it associates them with wealth, or the appearance of wealth.
