What do you think about the case being discussed (the one where the 12 year old got her intestines sucked out by a faulty pump)? For every frivolous lawsuit, there are plenty with merit that should and NEED to go through in order to cause the corporations to change their behavior. If you cannot recognize that, then you are putting the blinders on all by yourself.
Andy, the idea that law suits with merit, don't support gwayneco's bias, and won't be paid attention to by him. It was in the same article that he quoted from. Instead he took the one part that indicates a lawsuit that MIGHT not have helped. He then used that one lawsuit to put down all trial lawyers in general. It's not an effective tactic for most people on this board since they are interested in the issues and topics and read about them. Let's hope that kind of stuff doesn't fly with anyone else either.
Relax. It'll be at least a month or two before all of this goes down. You'll be the first person I contact.
literally one of the worst posts ever. take one example and generalize for an entire industry. great. I guess I'll do the same in return: Ford Pintos. look it up.
Rush Limbaugh was on this trial lawyer bashing kick today and someone called in and asked him had he ever been involved in a lawsuit. Limbaugh was clearly flustered and said he couldn't remember. It was pretty funny.
Flustering junkies is easy. In person, all you need is a bag of talcum powder and some monopoly money!
Don't get me wrong. I very rarely defend attorneys, period. I deal with them quite often, and find that more often than not, they think way too highly of themselves. Just my experience. And I don't defend a lot of what goes on with personal injury attorneys. I won't begin to defend the trial verdict in the McDonald's/coffee case....though the appellate court alleviated the problem by reducing damages significantly, the "rest of the story" so rarely told. And I won't defend the "sue first" mentality that I see so often. But the bottom line is that corporations aren't perfect either. And when the calculus involves weighing the risk of a human life against a few more dollars, then I'm all for having a mechanism to punish corporations in the only language they speak: dollars. The court system, with all its imperfections, is the only system I know that does that.
Lawyers suck until you need one. By the way, how did the Founder of the Republican Party financially support his political ambitions?
GASP. Dick "Go **** Yourself" Cheney wasn't our President's first choice for VP. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/7/7/135359/0216
I think it is safe to say that any John, Dick, or Harry can serve as VP as long as he will serve the best interest of the people...
I agree. I just thought it was funny after some conservative posters where giving the Edwards decision a hard time since he was allegedely the second choice.
I was trying to crack a joke but I could not even get the words correct. Tom instead of John and you have the correct verbage. But seriously folks...
Been offline for a couple days driving to PA. This stuff is hilarious. Seriously, even sillier than the TroyBaros stuff. How bout a bet Faos?
