    Prediction Challenge Season 7

    1. Champions
    Premier:
    First Division:
    Second Division:
    Third Division:
    Conference:

Scoring: Introducing a new scoring system. What you get depend on how many predicted the outcome.

    1: 7 pts
2: 4 pts for the first, 3 pts for the other
3: 4 pts for the first, 2 pts for the next, 1 pt for the last
4: 3 pts for the first, 2 pts for the next, 1 pt for the next 2
5: 3 pts for the first, 1 pt for the others
6: 2 pts for the first, 1 pt for the others
    7: 1 pt for all
8+: Where is the originality? Zero points for all.

So how do you differ who is first and so on? In addition to predicting the winner you predict how many pts they will get as a tie-breaker.

    2. Team Accomplishments (All managed teams)

    Mansfield:

    Watford:
    Carlisle:
    Lincoln:
    Cheltenham:
    Nottm. Forest:
    Bournemouth:

    West Ham:
    Crystal Palace:
    Wimbledon:

Predict points, goals scored, goals conceded for all managed teams leaguewise.

The predictions will be ranked and scored for each team:
    1st: 9 pts
    2nd: 6 pts
    3rd: 4 pts
    4th: 3 pts
    5th: 2 pts
    6th: 1 pt

    3. Player accomplishments (Goals, Assists, Av R, MoM)

Predict for the premiership, first division and second division.

Scoring as part 1. And to get the tiebreakers here you predict what their "score" will be.

    4. Fans Player of the year (Managed teams, 1 pt each)

    5. English Players Select

This part takes on a new form this year. It is a bonus gamble part. You can select players from human teams to make the select team in their division. You also allocate how many pts you bet they will make it (1-3).

You do not have to select any players here this time around. Then you will not risk any of your points, but you will also not gain any. Participation in this part is voluntary, and you decide how many you want to select for this part if you decide to participate.

Also - if you bet on a player to be chosen - he has to be picked in the main team. If he is a sub you will lose the bet.

Edit: Changed the scoring for this part. Now the payback depends on two things. How much you put down, and how much is put down total on this player. As we are 10 teams and max allowed put down on a player is 3, then this will be the payback scale:

    Your bet: 3

    Total bet - Payback

    25+ ____ 5
    20-24 ___ 6
    16-19 ___ 7
    12-15 ___ 8
    9-11 ____ 9
    6-8 _____ 10
    4-5 _____ 11
    3 _______ 12

    Your bet: 2

    Total bet - Payback

    25+ ____ 3
    16-24 ___ 4
    9-15 ____ 5
    6-8 _____ 6
    4-5 _____ 7
    2-3 _____ 8

    Your bet: 1

    Total bet - Payback

    25+ ____ 1
    9-24 ___ 2
    4-8 ____ 3
    1-3 ____ 4

Btw - you will use the bet put down regardless of the outcome. The odds have been adjusted so that you will get a good profit as long as not to many believe that it will happen

    6. Managed players accomplishments

From all managed teams pick the overall top 3 players in:

    1. Goals
    2. Assist
    3. Average Rating

    Edit:

You need to rank them. Scoring will be on a 3-2-1 scale. 3 for the first, 2 for the 2nd, 1 for the last. You do not need them in order, it is just the one you put first will score 3 pts if selected.

You will also add the "score" you think they will get for a bonus point. If you are alone of picking this player you will get a 2 point bonus, if two pick this player they will split the bonus, and if more than two pick the player the one closest to the score will get a 1 point bonus, while the next will get a half point bonus.

For average rating - players need over 20 games to be in consideration (when the season is over).

Tiebreakers (for the player ranking, not prediction)
1 & 2: Games (low), MoMs, Average Rating, Value (low)
3: Games (high), MoMs, Goals+Assists, Value (low)

For part 6 all stats in senior club matches count, not only league games. So it is important to check the teams textfile, and not the divisional textfiles as those only have league stats. Also only players that is with the team when the season ends will be ranked. Some players in the textfiles will have stats from loans, these players will not count in the prediction challenge as only stats gathered from the team in question counts.

Also, and this is for all parts, check that the player you select to be best at something still plays in the division you pick him for, as if he's sold he will hardly be the right choice as he will gather no further stats after leaving the division. This is not hard to spot as both player name and club is listed in the divisional textfiles. Then just check if the club he is listed at now play in the division.

Finally - players that has moved can still win it, but for average rating, you will have to play half the games to be in the textfile at the end of the year when the season is over (23 games).

And as always - the points gained in this challenge will be used to improve one player for each participant, not only the winner.

Just decided the format for part 6 and changed scoring for part 5. If you need to edit because of it, then please do.

29 rounds done and updated in the textfiles - this means that the pred challenge is close to be closed - so get in your entries or edits in time. You will have all day tomorrow, and maybe some time monday too, as work leads to not that much simming tomorrow.

For those that have tied their prediction in points, I will need yet another tiebreaker, that being goals scored.

Very Important - Post this tiebreaker in a new post, so you do not break the deadline for your original prediction

btw - Gillingham have already clinched the D3 title - in march, it is crazy considering Swindon was on top in D3 when we opened the challenge. At the moment they have 88 pts, and look to smash the record set by Swansea and DV (105 pts) and I'm kinda upset I didnt go with my original prediction of 106 pts - but I thought being highest was enough - but then came SF3's point edit - damn you ;)

    Part 5:

Did the whole thing in the chat (apart from premier league), so here is the human players who made it:

    FC -- Benson, Forest

    reserves:
    GK -- Wiland, Forest

So for the 7 players making it, here are the results:

    Mattioli: 3 pts put down

Man Heath, this new prediction scoring is crap. I got all 4 league winner right, yet I only get 2 points out of that?

I understand you want to limit copying and promote originality, but this is ridiculous. I mean obviously Man Utd was going to win Premier. So we get punished because it was an obvious choice? That makes no sense.
