Another new Robins form - let the Greek play.

    GK de Vogt
    DC Duff
    DC Zagorcic
    DC Weston
    DML Victory
    DMR Turcios
    MC Hansson
    MC Sánchez
    AML Moraitis
    AMR Taylor
    FC Stonebridge

    SB1 Ralph
    SB2 Lamptey
    SB3 Sisson
    SB4 Hopkins
    SB5 Coates

    Defense sub is Hansson.

Team instructions are very similar to last time - forward runs for most, crossing/through balls for Moraitis and Taylor among others. Moraitis also run with ball. Still holding up ball for Sánchez, and the DM instructions stay the same - basically, the exact same form except two AMs. You know. :)

btw - Selection screens only show players currently picked and other players in the first team at the time of the screenshot. You could have players in the reserves that have played first team ball - check the textfile for their ratings. If any of the players listed in the selection screen is not playing, and with no hopes of getting in games anytime soon you should consider sending him down to the reserves so he atleast get some PT.

I hope to be adding stat screens after a couple of more rounds, and for those I will include reserves so those down in the reserves wil not be comletly forgotten. Of course we still have the reserve screen with reserve team stats, but this will be for any games they would have been playing in the first team.

also any question about the players with "Inf" - please just ask anytime (about others too).

    Textfiles updated again.

Also - a reminder about contracts - for those that does not know about it already:

A player can SIGN for a new team 6 months BEFORE the old contract expire. And with less than 6 months remaining for some of the contracts ending in 07 already players have started agreeing to new teams. Check your textfile for when the contracts expire, if you want them resigned. REMEMBER - you can renegotiate a contract for a player at ANYTIME - it does not have to be an expiring contract to offer a new one.

Congrats to DV who beat Tottenham and qualified for the quarter finals of the league cup where they will face either Portsmouth or Manchester United. Tottenham manager David Moyes resigned from his position after this game. I was tempted for like a second to try to apply for the job - but at the moment I'm too happy being with Mansfield. DV also decided not to apply.

I have also updated stats for D1 teams (team pages, main site), D2 teams to follow later.

Had to search long and hard to find this thread... :)

Anybody who's in need of some midfielders or defensemen, Cheltenham has got 'em for you.

Martin Devaney, F LC (midfield and attack) - In past years, he's been my "super sub", and played pretty well. He's scored a few key goals for me and in past years has kept his average at right around 7 playing mostly in the left side of midfield (not entirely). Valued at 220K, he's still only 26 years old.

Tony Griffin, D/AM R - He's never really worked his way into the team. Injuries, being stuck behind good players, and not performing exceptionally in the few opportunities he had kept him down. He did start 37 games in year one and averaged a straight 7.00. He's not old (28) and valued at 45K, but I'd let him go for something based on league appearances and suchlike.

Michael Sisson, AM C - Another 28 year old, but this one has gotten to play a lot with me and has played well. He'll score the odd goal and collect some assists from a midfield or attacking mid position. Averaged 7.28 in 46 starts with Manfield in season one, 7.13 with me in the third season, and since has been at hundredths of a point below the 7 plateau. He's valued at 350K and could really help bolster a weak midfield unit.

Thomas Kleine, D C - 28 year old German import, 130K. I had really high hopes for him when I brought him in from Leverkusen, but he hasn't been the force in defense I hoped he would be. Still, he's a lot cheaper now than what I got him for and he could help out a weak defensive unit. He's got pretty good defensive attributes if they're the same as what they were in 2002 - none below 11. He wouldn't cost you too much to acquire, and like Griffin I'd be willing to make the bulk of the fee be based on league appearances.

There are some other players I'd be willing to let go of, too. Let me know if you want any of these four or check my textfile for others.

I also have some players available.

Antony Barness, D RLC. Good player, but no place to play for me. Can be had cheap.

Matt Clarke, GK. Also very good, but no spot due to Niemi. Can be had for much less than his value.

Paul McGregor, F RC. No place to play, due to my attackers. Can be had for cheap.

    GK Cox
DL Best possible, emphasis on dribbling, pace, crossing, and tackling
    DR same
DC best possible, emphasis on pace, tackling, jumping, heading
    DC same
MCBest possible, emphasis on off the ball, passing, pace, dribbling
    MC same
    MC Scott Murray
    AMC Gallagher
    FC Iunco
    FC Burnhardt

Anyone with dribbling 10 or over gets "run with ball" instruction
all players except the AMC and middle MC get crossing.
Tackling on hard, except for the keeper, who is on normal
Passing on direct, except for keeper, who should be on long.
Try though balls for any any midfield with passing and creativity above 10

    off-side trap should be ON

    all marking should be zonal

pressing should be OFF - turn on for occasional 10 minute spurts DURING the game

    mentality is ATTACKING

When I'm not here, never sub until the 55th minute, short of injury. After that, replace all 6's with best-available player. Never use the 3rd sub until the 70th minute. Sub all players out after their fatigue drops below 80, if possible.

Did the best at setting your team to your preference haven, but the midfield gave me some trouble as you had a couple of injuries there.

The game played yesterday is in box3.

I did your search you can find it in search (and also the 3 players you asked for in profiles 1-3)

Did not set your scouts as adding you will remove them anyway. but if it is ok with you, I could just change the name (nationality) in the editor?

    For the others:

Updated textfiles after the round yesterday and will think about updating selection and stats screens soon (starting to get a couple of months old)

could also list a couple of semi-available Mansfield players (not transfer listed in the game, but will consider letting them go for the right offer).

These are all from last year's textfile.

Most interesting of these should be:

    1. Rory Hamill - nice goalratio for the games he have played for me, but with Porter exploding this year he can not get the time he deserves. Have played him everywhere from MC, AM C, winger and striker, so he is also a versatile player.

    2. Sean McClare - a midfielder that was a great part of the team last season, but with the addition of Philip Mulryne he have only been a sub for most this season.

    3. Tim Cole - a defender that had an important role last season when I won D2 getting 40 starts. This season he have only gotten the odd apperance.

    4. Liam Lawrence - He can score with the best of them when given the chance. Dont be mistaken by him being a AM/F RC - the closer he plays to goal the better he is. I would not trust him to a central midfield spot, and he is an ok winger, but give him a AM C or striker spot and he will produce. Also an excellent penalty taker. Last season he was away on loan so thats the reason he had no games. But ask SF3 about his goalscoring abilities :)

There are also other players that have been a vital part of my team at one point, like Illingworth, Cleeland, Kristensen, Steen and Reddington and a prospect like Hogg that is going ape**** in my reserves this season (10 goals in 16+2 games).

Talk with me in chat about if you want any of these, some of them can come fairly cheap, while others will demand some effort as they still have some role in my team. (can also ask me here and I will give more info)

The Prediction Challenge is up and running

    1. Champions (Winners for all 5 divisions, 3 pts each)
    Premier:
    First Division:
    Second Division:
    Third Division:
    Conference:

    2. Team Positions (All managed teams)

    Pointscale:
5 pts - for calling the positon
    3.5 pts - being 1 off
    2.5 pts - being 2 off
    2 pts - being 3 off
    1.5 pts - being 4 off
    1 pt - being 5 off
    0 pts - being 6-7 off
    -1 pt - being 8-9 off
    -2 pts - being 10-12 off
    0 pts - for unlucky 13
-5 pts - being 14+ off - what the hell were you thinking?

    3. Player accomplishments (Only D1 & D2 this time around: Goals, Assists, Av R, MoM; 2 pts each)

    4. Fans Player of the year (Managed teams, 1 pt each)

    5. English Players First Division Select

Pick the 11 starters you think will make the team. (GK-4D-4M-2A)

2 pts if they make the team, 1 pt if they make the subs.

Extra: If you pick a players of yours that make the team you will get 3 pts, if that player dont make the team you will be deducted 1 pt. Same if a player of yours make the team and you have not picked him - your tally will be deducted with 1 pt.

    6. English Players Second Division Select

    Same as above.

I have created some extra screens of players ratings in D1 and D2 to help with this (also made screens for D3 and conference, but just for scouting purpose). In D2 you also have the textfiles of the 11 highest placed teams as I added 4 computer teams. Players will be picked in these positions:

    GK - DL - DR - DC - DC - ML - MR - MC - MC - FC - FC

In D2 you will have the textfiles to help you out while D1 only have the screens and the opprotunity to ask me. The players will be picked in this formation, but players can be picked outside of their usual place if the computer think they deserve the spot.

    7. Managed players accomplishments (2 pts each)

From all managed teams pick the overall top 3 players in:

    1. Goals
    2. Assist
    3. Average Rating

For average rating - players need over 20 games to be in consideration (when the season is over).

    Tiebreakers
1 & 2: Games (low), MoMs, Average Rating, Value (low)
3: Games (high), MoMs, Goals+Assists, Value (low)

For part 7 all stats in senior club matches count, not only league games. So it is important to check the teams textfile, and not the divisional textfiles as those only have league stats. Also only players that is with the team when the season ends will be ranked. Some players in the textfiles will have stats from loans, these players will not count in the prediction challenge as only stats gathered from the team in question counts.

Also, and this is for all parts, check that the player you select to be best at something still plays in the division you pick him for, as if he's sold he will hardly be the right choice as he will gather no further stats after leaving the division. This is not hard to spot as both player name and club is listed in the divisional textfiles. Then just check if the club he is listed at now play in the division. Example from the D2 textfile: Vance Varner, Stockport, 16 apps, 8.31 av rating. If you check the standings, you will discover that Stockport is not one of the team listed, so this player has been sold out of the division and will not gather any more stats, and probably not be picked for the divisional select either.

Finally - players that has moved can still win it, but for average rating, you will have to play half the games to be in the textfile at the end of the year when the season is over (23 games).

Ooooh, almost forgot the most important bit - your score in the prediction challenge is the points you get to distrubute on improving 1 player (like I improved Danny McDonald last time, or Nomar with Marcus Benson as two good successful examples)

Deadline will be when we have played league round 30, after that I will make a post in the this thread, upon no more editing can be done to keep your entry valid

Also updated 4 extra teams in d2 textfiles and player ratings screens to make the picking of player select teams easier. If in doubt ask.

I probably won't be here for much of the initial simming today so here's what I'd like as far as replacement for my injuries are concerned, please. Defense can be Victory, Kleine, and Zagorcic. If Corbett has to serve his suspension soon, let Luke Coates start for him and James Taylor be a sub instead of Lamptey. Also, start Blinkhorn in attack with Stonebridge. So after that, subs should end up being Ralph, Taylor, Devaney, Hopkins, Correia - and if a D is playing badly then Rhys or Hansson can take care of that.

And if the Vans comes around without me - I'd rather win the game than let the Duncan Willettses of the world play, if you know what I mean.

Last thing - if you feel like getting a coach's report for me, feel free to see what my best and brightest have to say about Bobby Hassell.

    Thank you! :)
