"Bill, in the NBA, a 10 point game in the 3rd quarter is like...(pause)...a really close game."

Why is Drexler doing road games as well? Did they let Bullard go?

I was Drexler's biggest critic the first few weeks. That stupid nervous laugh, over and over. Ending most sentances with a question mark. Never adding any insight, exhibiting no basketball knowledge, interest, or passion.
However, Clyde has improved a lot these last two weeks. It started out in LA. I can now listen to the broadcast and enjoy the commentary. I expect Clyde will continue to improve as the year goes on.

Too bad this can't be a sure statement for the rockets.

Does anybody remmeber when Calvin Murphy began his announcing job. I seem to remmember him being stiff and hard to listen to at first. Any comments from the experienced Rocket fans out there.

I can state catagorically that the Rockets will improve as the months go by this year.
Unless Tracy gets hurt, gulp, he looked hurt last night.
    Unless Yao's infection spreads.
Unless Rafer plays all year like he played in the first couple of weeks.

    I agree. He's getting better.

Of course he couldn'tve gotten much worse!

    My favorite clyde-ism so far.

so and so "has a nose for the game"

It's actually has a nose for the ball.

LOL! Exactly! He was soooooo bad that anything he said (or if he talked at all) was better than his performance at the beginning of the season; in other words, there was no way to go but up.

The real problem with Clyde is that he HAS NO CHARACTER! Do we forget so fast? The man was the most boring personality in the NBA when he played, no one cared a bit about him because he was most interesting when he didn't say anything. He's just plain, nothing 'exciting' about him. The man's personality is not going to change no matter how long he stays on as a "non-color" commentator. Calvin was already an interesting personality on and off the court, and that's why he was a natural really.

Bullard is good, I don't mind listening to him at all, although he's a bit stiff as well, but he's the one that improves with every game. Clyde? He's what he is. Him and Hakeem were great players, but they're people that will literally bore you to death if you talk/listen to them for 5 minutes; that's just who they are. There's a good reason they were never marketable players in this league.

clyde is just too positive and too nice a guy..

He even said Rafael Araujo for the Raptors had lots of potential. That guy was just a wasted draft pick and shouldnt even be in the NBA. He's not really a homer but rather just a guy who's positive about everything.

I'd take Van back in a heartbeat. He knew his basketball and I loved that accent.

I concur. I always thought that if you were a professional athlete you have to have some sort of attitude but I can say that Clyde is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I think Yao fits into that mold as well too. He's just a likable person when you meet them. Clyde became one of my favorite players when he came to Houston and definitely one of my favs after meeting him and talking to him. He doesn't bother me at all. I try not to think of him as a commentator but just a person like one of us observing the game. He's just being himself and in that sense it makes it enjoyable for me.
