With Scola and Dragic, they are favorites to be our successor at 9 and 14.

Why are we surprised? Clyde thinks Scola is a elite player, so for him 4th or 5th seed AT LEAST.

Come on, we all know how big a fan Clyde is of Luis. He said numerous times that he wouldn't have even traded Scola for Gasol straight up.

Clyde is obviously embellishing the truth here, but you have to realize that his favorite players that he has grown attached to are now on that team, and he is probably rooting strongly for them to have success in Phoenix.

Right, because Gortat, Scola, Dragic and Beasley all helped lead their teams to the playoffs last year, so they will certainly do it again - especially as a 4th or 5th seed.

This is the same guy who said that Rafer Alston would make the all-star team.

    Hahaha.

Most likely they will be in the same exact position we were in last season.

    Goran Dragic
    Shannon Brown
    Michael Beasley
    Luis Scola
    Marcin Gortat

    That's not a bad starting 5

4 or 5 in the West though? maybe in the East.

I agree on Memphis; I could easily see them falling. I think Utah will be better though, and Minny's in playoff contention now too. I'm tempted to agree with Clyde because Phoenix does have a lot of solid veterans, but they have a lot of competition out west.

You don't think scola can still play better than he did most of last year? I'm not saying he gave up or anything, but they werent using him as much and i think that took his rhythm away for when he did get the ball. He was nearly at 20 and 10 the year before.

Beasley can be very good though. It's not like he's capped off his potential or play. I don't think he's ever been in a better situation than this, with some vets who are all business, and he should have less off the court distractions, at least compared to Miami.

The funny part is that the team they have now would have complimented Nash pretty well.

I also don't think they are gonna be terrible...at least they certainly don't deserve the number 2 worst team in the conference.

Teams I'm pretty sure they're better than:
    Kings
    Jazz
    Hornets
    and probably us

I don't think they have a bright future but yea, I can see them vying for the 8th playoff spot.

So, the problem is that Scola didn't have the ball enough....and now he moves from Houston, where he pretty much was the only legitimate post threat to Phoenix who has Gortat. In addition, you're forgetting age. He's not going to be near a 20-10 player in Phoenix, that's ludicrous.

And why are you ignoring Beasley in Minny? He had a freaking MVP level player next to him, but he sucked, and has sucked throughout his tenure there. People just give him chance after chance because "#2 pick", and nothing else.

Not forgetting age, he's just never been athletic, so age isn't going to hit him as much, and as quickly, as a vince carter. What's he going to lose? Speed? Vertical jump? Strength? He didn't have to count on those things to be succesful in the past. He had hustle, size, experience, and skill. That's not going to disappear right now. He may not rebound that much because of Gortat, but he can still put up 18-20 a game, especially now that he won't need to help cover the opposing center.

I wasn't ignoring Beasley in Minny. Minny had raw talent around him, but didn't have vets like Goran, Scola, Gortat, and even JO. He had guys like darko, ridnour, and telfair. As good as Love is, he's in his "ima do me" phase, which a lot of young guys get into when they become all-stars on losing teams.

You're talking like Beasley has no talent, as if he was Thabeet. Thabeet has physical and mental hurdles to overcome, for Beasley, it's mental.

Hell, a Rose-less Chicago could beat that team.

role players/border line allstars vs role players/border line allstars

one team plays defense another one doesn't.

    agreed.

I still remember Bill calling him out for it during a game. It was so awkward, Clyde kept saying Scola was a superstar and in the category with Lebron.....

Because even to a guy like Scola, athleticism does matter. We've seen it over the year, as his defense has gotten even worse and his rebounding has worsened slightly. The fact is that even if you have Scola's talent, you need some athleticism. I think it's perfectly reasonable to attribute his small decline to his age as opposed to the idea that he stopped thriving without the ball - a proposition which then makes no sense because Gortat will take away touches from him, so why do you think he'll do better then?

Thabeet? No. But I don't think Beasley's much better than T-Will. Beasley can play the "potential" card better than Williams due to his status as a higher draft pick and his younger age which is why he gets a contract unlike Williams, but they're both overrated chuckers who have glimpses of talent but don't really get it.
