Actually he tried for years with Yao and it sucked too which is why he mostly abandoned it until Yao got hurt and he brought in the ex Kings

As I predicted he didn't start Sengun but Garuba (who actually played pretty well). Silas just doesn't value Sengun. He really wants centers to have different skills sets than Senguns.

And to the people who are saying: "Who cares if he comes of the bench, he will get his minutes and will play some minutes with Green and Smith". He played fewer minutes than Garuba yesterday and fewer minutes than Fernando against the hawks (while also not finishing the game against the hawks). If we ignore Garuba (since he only played 1 game) Sengun i still only 6th in minutes on our team (And he would also be below Fernando if he didn't get injured). When he is clearly on of our 3 maybe 4 best players (I would argue one of our top 2 players).

Silas also says Sengun’s weaknesses/limitations to the media. Always catches me by surprise. He’s definitely not a fan of his

Have you considered that for a guy his size and the fact that he’s been put on a load management restriction as they build up his strength. He was a heavy kid. Don’t want to put too much stress on those heavy boned guys when they’re still possibly growing.

I think that’s a far more likely explanation than “Silas doesn’t know what he’s doing. It’s obvious he should be doing X.” Because at the end of the day he’s a respected coach that is well known for his offensive scheming.

He doesn't seem particularly heavy to me now. Certainly not any more than other big men. His moves are very fluid.

And also only Lopez seemed taller than his. He is not shorter than Portis,Jabari,Giannis,.. Of course not as strong but not shorter.

I can talk my mess about Sengun bc I’m a fan lol. I’ve heard on 3 interviews Silas criticizing his athleticism. Needs to keep that between him and the staff

I wouldn't go so far as calling him one of our top 2 players. But you are right. It doesn't look like they are committed to having him a core piece. What appeared is that after they signed Fernando, they found that Fernando was much easier to be inserted into their guard oriented system.

The problem is, centers like Fernando are a dime a dozen. Why don't they try at least a season to see if Sengun works. If Sengun doesn't work out, you can always put Fernando back next year or find another similar cheap big quite easily.

Yao didn’t look particularly heavy either, but he was thick in the base. I suspect Sengun is too. He’s certainly not quick/light footed, right? I agree with the idea of bringing him along slower than guards or lighter players. Too much stress on those feet while you’re still physically growing is not good for the bones/joints.

What most people also fail to realise the physical difference in American basketball to the rest of the world.

He is better than KPJ for sure. And higher upside than Gordon.

Yeah, having a defensive 5 is crucial. We’ll get one soon

He has very quick footwork. Even Hakeem said it.

Green and Sengun. Hopefully Jabari will make it a big three. And hopefully Tari will make it a big four.

KPJ is at best the 5th best player (not counting Gordon).
