I was more than OK letting them play things out with him as a starting C. I get the reason though. You also have to consider that coaches see way more behind the scenes stuff compared to us fans. At the end of the day, I trust the coaching staff far more than I trust any armchair coach / GM on a BBS.

Perfect reason to bring him off the bench

Austin is not a great city either. It’s hilly San Antonio

No where have I said I’m against bringing him off the bench, as long as he gets 28+ minutes.

My issue is with the coaching staff not knowing how to maximize the potential of one of our best young players.
They’re stuck in a 5 out iso heavy system that has been proven to not work.

His minutes will depend on how well he learns to play off ball, how he plays defensively, and how many fouls he picks up.

He has to learn to fit with Green, KPJ, and Smith if he wants heavy minutes, not the other way around

He needs to fit with Green. Smith still needs to prove it and KPJ may or may not be a part of the future.

Let's not get too worried. It's a long season.

5 out iso basketball worked pretty well for the 2021 nba champs

I said days ago that it made perfect sense for Sengun to stagger minutes with KPJ/Jalen this is a good move. The bench needs someone to make plays and Sengun needs more time to develop as a primary playmaker in the NBA.

KPJ and Sengun do the same thing, pass the ball. Green is looking to score, that's why they both do well with Green vs playing with each other.

If he doesn't fit with KPJ, he won't fit with Green for the same reason.

Sengun needs to prove he can play off ball in order to fit with the starters.... all the rest of them can.

Very strategic move with important consequences:

1.If we consider other bench players (Tate,Gary Bird,Tari,Nix,TyTy,KMJ) Alpi won't be automatic 6th man, likely 8th or 9th. His bond with the team will be weaker and weaker after this demotion/humiliation (however you call it)
    2.Jabari's ROY candidacy is over.
3.The team is in full-tank mode now.Wondering why outsiders were ranking Houston so lowly but it seems that they were more aware about the idiots within the organization.
4.KPJ and JGreen declared their kingdom but their army is a lesser one now.KPJ might be next casualty if things don't go smooth.Interesting case.I'll be watching.
5.Silas is competing with his very own father for the worst winning percentage now. No one will give him a new contract.A better (basketball) world.
6.KMJ is the biggest beneficiary from this move. Will be assisted a lot.
7.No D.J.Augustine, no Dennis Schroder. This year will be more difficult for Alpi than last year.
8.Hope Alpi will be traded to an eastern conference team in the next move. West does not suit to Istanbullites.

Milwaukee does not play a 5 out offense

Edit* the way Silas implements it. There is a lot more cuts from Milwaukee and low post play

Green is an off-ball player. A true shooting guard, Alp makes his life a lot easier. He’s the best screener and best passer on the team

I think things might have been different had Jabari Smith not gotten injured after that first preseason game. The starting lineup of KPJ / Green / EGO (I think?) / Smith / Sengun looked very good. The ball movement and spacing was excellent.

So even if Sengun comes off the bench, I hope they give that lineup a lot of looks during the first half of the season.

Also, one of the positives I see with Sengun coming off the bench is that he doesn't have to go up against the starting centers. He's still young, so taking a pounding against the best big men night in and night out could shorten his career. This way, he gets a little more time to bulk up and build up experience.

The Rockets wanted to mold him into something else, the problem with that is he didn’t improve any of the aspect they needed him to. shooting, conditioning weight etc. (they don’t want a low post banger). Naturally they’re disappointed. I doubt he’ll be able to keep up with the tempo they intend to implement.

I hope Sengun requests a trade and The Crier™ is fired.

You obviously don’t know anything about Austin. It’s nothing like San Antonio. Come visit, I’ll give you a tour man lol

Clutch I agree that a rebounding/rim protecting big goes better with the 1st unit, but I’m not sure that’s what we have in Bruno. I do agree he’s more that way than Sengun at this point though. The other concern I have is that a Sengun/Tate 2nd unit has some serious redundant shooting concerns.

Lol, I have multiple properties around Austin. Very familiar with it.
It’s not a great city. It’s nice landscapes, that’s about it

You don’t know it unless you live it. Have properties here doesn’t mean you know it lol. It’s your opinion though
