You'll have an injury prone team with T-Mac and Yao. What are the odds between those two player that the rockets will have another fragmented season if one of them goes down again.

I'm a "gut reaction" type. My gut tells me it would have to be an extraordinary deal to part with Brooks. Concerning any major players being traded, my gut says, "Don't just think about how it looks on paper." That's been a disappointment too many times, on too many teams -- including the Rockets. :(

I like the way you think. Not because I agree with you but because you have been consistent throughout all of our fantasy trades (also possibilities) and roster-lifts.

I respect that from the start you haven't budged from wanting to stay put but honestly do you really want to put your eggs in that Tracy+Yao=Ring one mores season??? We need to get younger and more athletic Morey and Les realize that. And that is were we are headed.

I honestly don't think Morey isn't going to pull a bone head move,IMO, like the one everyone was talking about at the deadline last year with VC.

I think the deal needs to be swift also. The rox will be competing with a number of teams that have expiring contracts who are trying to win a ring. Sa has a lot of expirings as well as cleveland. I mean trying to keep lbj, they could offer wallace and a young guy like hickson. NY can also offer harrington, chandler and nate for amare. Its a race against those teams also.

Do NOT trade Scola, whatever you do! That guy is a winner and has heart.

Im for flipping Tmac for Vince, try to squeeze a first rounder out of NJ as well.... Amare is tempting, but we do that and Our penetrators are Lowry, Wafer and Barbosa (who has his most success in transition, not half court.) And then our shooters are Batteir, Wafer (sometimes) and Barry (if kept) Ron is good from 3, but can be horrid as well.

Yao, Amare, Scola is awesome inside, if you have the right shooters and I dont know if we would.

    But...

    Brooks/Lowry
    Carter/Wafer/Barry
    Artest/Battier/White
    Scola/Landry/Hayes
Yao/Player to be acquired and Hayes

Looks good to me, considering what we know about this team, and what we know they need. Carter could be a really great addition.

Well, George Shinn just got $2.2M more desperate!

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4231297

Devin Brown just exercised his player option for 2009-10. According to DraftExpress, his option year should pay him just over $1.1M. With the Hornets sitting over the expected luxury tax threshold for next year, that amount doubles to $2.2M.

The 1st thing is to look at the Rockets roster and know which positions u need to patch up.

4&5 are basically set. Morey will only look for a 7 footer backup for Yao. The backup won't be a big money player. Morey is not going to spend 30+ millions in these 2 positions. It will be someone who make less than 3 millions. Most teams keep the 4&5 positions 5-6 deep.

PG - Morey is looking for a veteran PG. If CP or D-Will falls into your lap accidentally, u always take it.

2/3 - Caron Butler, Rip Hamilton, or Vince Carter is welcomed. But the Rockets major trade chip is T-Mac. The possibility of any trade will happen for T-Mac this summer is very low. I think a trade may happen before year end if T-Mac can return at the start of season. Then again, it'll really depend on how T-Mac plays.

So, the Rockets have 11 guarantee contracts; 2 free agents Ron & Von that Morey said the Rockets will like to have them back; James White's contract probably won't be guaranteed until sometime next season. Unless opportunity presents itself, I don't see there is too much the Rockets can do this summer. Maybe buy a 2nd round draft pick and stock another international player for the future.

The good news about all of this, if a deal is made, it should be very favorable to the Rockets.

Morey is in great shape for two reasons:

    1. If he does nothing, he still will have a very good team to put on the floor next year.

    2. He is not desperate from a financial perspective, indeed, the Rockets are profitable.

That puts him in strong negotiating position. It means he can wade through man offers and say "no" a lot.

    It means...we won't get a sucker deal.

Great job Clutch! I'm still hoping for a Nash or either Amare deal...Preferably Nash since Amare need a Nash type of player to make him look good.

Anyone knows how Amare fare without Nash playing?

    Yes, you're nuts! ;)

I like the idea. We need a long, athletic big to give Yao the chance to reduce his minutes without forcing Scola (for example) to play out of position (although he did a good job a lot of the time, this ain't Europe, where he can cover the 5 better than here, IMO). Chandler could spell both Yao and Luis, giving us a running option at the 5, as you point out. Carter would be huge. Our main problem in the playoffs was lack of consistant production from the offense. We struggled and understandably so, despite the heroic efforts of the guys on the floor. As you said, Carter gives us not only a closer, but a wing who can score from distance (and not just from the corners, like Shane), from midrange, and around the basket. Les gets another star that's known worldwide.

    Nice scenario, Duece!

    Where Do We Rank...

For trade bait against other teams have to offer? I'm just following this up with Clutch writeup trade accessment.

So let just say for the 5 trade proposal by Clutch. Do we have a good or better chance then the other teams? Being realistically do we have a better offer then the other teams without sacrificing too much? It's not just the players but it's also the contracts that have it going for us. Who how are the other teams out there fare against us for the top 5 proposals?

    Rockets Give:

    Tracy McGrady
    Aaron Brooks

    Rockets Get:

    Tyson Chandler
    Morris Peterson
    Chris Paul

Backup C who can give us interior presence and dunks.
    Outside shooter.
    Chris Paul.

This is huge relief for the Hornets that will need to cut their payroll significantly in order to stay under the luxury tax.

he'd still be an all-star. he's too talented to need nash. can shoot, run, play pick and roll... just needs to work on his rebounding and defense.

That would be more than a steal... no way the Hornets would do that. If we really want Paul we`d have to take Peja and give them Brooks and Scola, possibly also Landry.
