We should call Indy and ask them if they want to give us Troy Murphy. That's the type of player we need. A double double guy that can play the four and five and has great three point range.

That's crazy to take Troy Murphy into our hunting list, that guy has pretty stats this season but nothing else, and the size and length of his contract also makes it almost impossible for Houston to acquire this guy.

The Rockets should go after Jeff Foster instead of Troy Murphy. He rebounds and defends better. Offense wise its Murphy but the team needs someone to defend the other teams power forwards and rebounds like his life depends on it. :D

" A trade of McGrady, Landry and Brooks for Stoudemire and Barbosa is one both teams would have to seriously consider. "

That would take precisely 1 second to consider ... Do it NOW

Then we would need to make additional trades to get a decent PG

    Great article.

I would be happy to see Bosh, Camby, or Stodemire come to Houston.

Sorry Clutch no trade with Phoenix- Stoudemire is injury prone and problems with his eye. Barbossa- a shooter well past his prime. There is more potedntial in Brooks and Landry. I hope Les reads this! :p
Would welcome Randolph, especially if Artest wants too much money or signs elsewhere. :p

I like any chance to get a big man. Chandler or Camby would be good, and Kaman is too expensive. The trade with Suns looks good, but it is too risk because we have to resign the player we get, and give up young players if we can not or do not want to resign him because it will be very expensive.

Draft pick wouldn't help immediately but you still have to plan for the future. Plus Morey likes having assets.

I don't think the idea that "distressed" teams are looking to dump salary at all costs, hence all the these dream deals, can necessarily be taken at face value. First of all, the NBA trade rules all but precludes any net effect of on the present year, meaning the savings won't come until the future years of the traded contracts. In fact the net effect on the next seasons returns could be an increased loss because trading away your marquee values and in essence the 'hopes' of your fans, virtually assures you will sell less tickets and merchandise.

The idea of an NBA owner trading marquee assets today has to be to accept losses in the present term to increase your chances of insuring profits over the longer term i.e. positioning yourself to pay younger or better players; but the cost of doing business in the NBA is always something close to the salary cap and if you aren't committed to that you would have your team listed for sale.

For most NBA owners, the teams are but a part of a larger more complex business entity for which the team's short term cash flow may not be that important. There are tax loss, synergies and prestige issues we wouldn't understand unless we were the corporate CFO's. I don't think anybody in the NBA has lost more paper money than Les Alexander over the last couple of years. And of course, the fastest way to get a cash infusion for your team is to actually add attractive players that sell season tickets; win so you sell out and, get into the playoffs to add extra game revenue.

So, just don't expect any foreclosure sales. The Warriors may suck but there are still one of only 30 NBA teams in the world.

I think going after Stoud would be the best move, if we can manage it. Regarding the Warriors, I live in the bay area and there's no way most of what you said would be considered. They will not dump young talent just to get rid of contracts. The contracts for Ellis and AB are large but brand new - they wouldn't have extended them just to dump them IMO. They are VERY high on Randolph. I've seen a few of their games and the kid has skills. He's raw but has as much potential as anyone that's come out the last couple of years so no way they're getting rid of him. If there's anybody to go after, it's one of their zillion swing men they have. And news in the papers today, although it could be a bluff, says the Warriors are high on a couple more swing men. The only couple of guys I think that are available that could help us is Jamal Crawford or Brandon Wright. Crawford might have an opt out right now. I like Wright and with Randolph coming on, he might be available in trade. I didn't know much about Craw but he's got some great offensive skills. He's streaky somewhat but clutch down the stretch of games.

I wouldn't say Randolph is all we need, he is a talent but there are questions about his practice habits and motor. I think we need another consistent scorer. I would love to see Granger here, along with an athletic big.

How about Bosh, Calderon, and Kapono for McGrady, Scola, Brooks, and Dorsey?

    PG: Calderon, Lowry
    SG: Artest, Barry
    SF: Battier, Kapono
    PF: Bosh, Landry
    C: Yao, Hayes

do the contracts work out? Doesn't look bad at all, but i'm afraid it makes us much slower and i'd still like at least one guy in the perimter who can get his shot off when he wants, as in a good shot, not ron's off balanced, one legged attempts.

I'll take Tayshaun over Rasheed anyday.
Rasheed is too much baggage but I don't care for his Defensive effort
Rasheed + Ron would not be good either

hamilton is 6'7" and battier could come off the bench if u want size start artest

I'm all in for dealing with the pistons i think Tyson is not a good fit with the rockets and although Amare is talented i just cant see him playing well next to Yao and if you bring him Scola hates coming off the bench dont mess with what we have going already

our first team would be nice:
Brooks (penetrate and above average shooter)
Rip (great off the ball movement and awesome spot up shooter)
    Battier (DEFENSE and corner 3s)
Scola (hustle and effort double double machine)
Yao (Post up game and fyi he is 7'6")

our second team could really be starters:
Lowery (penetrate and goes to the line)
    Wafer (slasher and shooter)
Artest (intimidating presence and could involve into our leader)
    Landry (hustle and effort explosive)
Wallace (big man blocks shots and shoots the 3 ball very talented)

but i know morey is calling the shots and ill be there opening night for sure whatever happens
