thats what i assumed a mobile offensive minded 7 footer who knows adeleman's offense to back up yao.

salmons is that slasher, athletic 2 guard that can back up yao and shane

uridh is a great backup pg with some more size compared to brooks, and can drive and finish and shoot the jumper. (though i would rather have brooks for his speed)

i just wouldnt know who we would give up to get those guys outside of artest, head and brooks will try to play with the trade checker

Duh. I was so caught up in the Mike Miller trade talks that I neglected the Miller who is on the same team as the others mentioned in Doc's comment. My bad.

I met some problem in my 2k9. I can't switch teams in trading. It's like I can only trade with the team next to mine. But I trade Dalembert for R.Wallace

so i tried possibilities in the trade checker and it says the rules do not allow a player to be traded back to his original team within the same salary cap year.

So Artest cant be traded back to sacramento until the offseason or if he is waived by the team.

i am guess then if the Miller involved is brad miller either a)there is another team involved that gets artest

or b)the team is not trading artest but mcgrady

Salary wise that works out I think. Also, the Rockets are playing with a 14 man roster. I can't imagine them dropping to 13 or below. Outside of T-Mac and Yao nobody else on the Rockets makes that much.

That's my first thought. The salaries work and it would involve the Rockets taking about just around the same amount of extra salary that matches the team's remaining room under the luxury tax. I worry, however, that it might push the Rockets over the tax threshold by a few thousand dollars and force Les to PAY another team to take Luther Head off his hands.

Artest only makes $7 million a year anyway--Salmons plus Miller is around $16 million and nobody on the Rockets makes that much outside of Yao and McGrady.

I think Miller would be the perfect backup for Yao. Salmons gives us some sorely needed athleticism at the wing position, and Udrih is a solid backup if not a starter. Plus, I think losing McGrady is addition by subtraction at this point and I think the Kings do it just to dump some salary.

Oh boy, Doc just opened up another door for 30 pages of speculation! :D

I think if the name dropping is accurate, it will be a three team sort of deal.

We'll probably take Miller and Salmons, give up Brooks/Head/Landry to the Kings, and ship Artest to another team.

    I don't think T-mac is involved.

tmac and brooks works for the 3 players mentioned.

it would force les over the tax though.

unless the kings take back von wafer i think then the rockets take in slightly less (about 200k) so they stay under the cap. les would probably have to send cash over to the kings too though.

    only realistic option imo.

if that was the trade salmons would probably take most of von's minutes anyway and barry should get the remaining bit. it would just force wafer to the bench which i dont like but most likely would happen.

    Miller+Salmons+Beno = 11.3+5.5+5.1 = 20.9

    Mcgrady = 21.1

hmm....the "maybe" beno part could refer to the fact that we also have a trade exception

well taking doc's post into account and then what solomon said about the potential trade that would make a lot of people happy i took it as we are moving someone we dont want on the team (tmac) or getting back a star/superstar we never thought would be possible

I don't think the numbers work out. Miller plus Salmons is around $16,000,000. Brooks/Head/Landry/Artest works out to around $13,000,000. Plus the Rockets would be way under 14 guys on the roster at that point.

I think this and the Davis/Kaman deal are the only possibilities that have been mentioned that could include McGrady just as a piece for a salary dump. They might even buy him out a la Stevie Franchise. Sad.

i don't think any team will buy tracy out. next year is his contract year and i'm sure he'll have a pretty good year (considering those microfracture surgery is a big rumor). he's just a mental mess with that knee right now.

tracy shows he can play even on that knee, with the occassional stinker. stevie was done.

    Salmons is pretty good.

I wouldn't mind trading Tracy for him and Miller.

    Possibly Udrih?

Maybe we are trading Battier or Rafer?
