Your logic only holds if you can state that when Beverley plays more than 30 minutes, Lin is playing less than 30 minutes and playing WELL in those games.

If Lin sucked during those games, then the Rockets lack of winning would be due to Lin sucking, not Beverley playing more. But if Lin was going Linsanity during those games, then you'd have a point.

So do a little more research and see how Lin played in games where Bev played more than 30 minutes and Lin played less than 30.

Whats becoming clearer is that between the two Beverley should be starting.

The reality is that we need a legitimate starting PG and Beverley should be coming off the bench for 15-20 minutes tops.

Lin was doing fine all 82 games last year and the few games at the start of the year when Bev was injured.

I don't know what it is at this point but I believe we have the players for the PG position. Its just a matter of utilizing it properly.

Lol at the LOFs. Anyways, does it really matter who starts? There's no consistency from either player. At this point, I would want some kinda Derek Fisher type. Someone who knows their damn role, shuts their mouth, and plays their game. We already have the stars.

Exactly. And that's precisely what the article says. It's drawn more than a few laughs here watching some make it out to be something else.

lol at such a raging debate over 2 scrubs. beverley is grossly overrated defensively, and sucks offensively. lin is wildly inconsistent, and can't buy a 3 anymore..with meh handles.

Consistent roles will make consistent players. Right now, except for DH playing center, I really have no idea who the others players are. Right now, Rockets is just struggling to find its identity. Players are not trusting each other and the system. We have a coaching staff like to go with so-called hot hands during games. There is simply no continuity even within a single game. It is a mess.

Lin played just fine the later half of the last season.

He was doing just fine the first 20 games of the season. He held his own until two weeks ago McFail benched him two games in a row in the fourth and let Brooks close the game. And then Bev came back from injuries and inserted into starting lineup right away, the third time this season Lin was stripped starting role and sent to bench.
The last straw on camel's back. He was playing terribly since and the PG position now is a big mess-up because Bev and Brooks were not capable to stabilize the position and run the offense.

Talking about brilliant strategy from Kevin McHale.

BTW, I agree this thread is thread of the year material and should be a sticky.

No ****. These numbers are clear too. One tailed Chi Square statistics actually comes up with P value <0.05.

I thought Lin was derailed by his injuries. Didn't he sit out how many games and when he came back, he wasn't as hot as before.

The association between JLin's playing >30mins a game and more Rockets' wins is significantly better than that of PBev's.

How many of you still agree with Clutch's analysis?

How many of you still agree with Clutch's analysis?

Nothing wrong with the data or the conclusion, what went wrong was the fact that he forgot to go deeper for questioning: why is BEV a better fit for the starting job, and more importantly, is this the RIGHT direction? In other words, the forgotten question is, will we be able to compete for the ultimate prize with this line up and this style of play? Which is what really matters as BEV or LIN could be the soulmate of Harden but if we can not compete, who cares? Please do not point to the extreme LOFs, as I believe even most of the "LOF" named by many posters here, would care about the team success as well as LIN's.

Real_egal provided a much thorough analysis of the whole situation, who blamed Lin for his indecisive play, Harden for his lazy ass on the D end, but I think more importantly, guys are going nowhere with the current coach. His way of managing players with different standards, rotation, in game adjustment are just horrible. If you want the Rockets to succeed, yet still satisfied with a "sure, it completely makes sense that BEV should start over LIN" attitude, you are...delusional and I am being polite.

Oh, before you name me a LOF, save it. If you don't get it, you don't.

lol none of the 1's are even opening their mouth. Maybe that's the problem

And Fisher played in the triangle where his role every possession was pass to the wing, run to the corner and wait there for the 0.05% chance his man would sag off him enough for the post to hit him for an open 3

here everyone not named Dwight Howard basically takes turns being the 1
