This. Lin (who I think is best out of the 3) is great when he's on his game but he's too inconsistent to be a starter. He isn't someone I'd trust with the ball during the post season.

    worst post by Clutch ever.
In NBA, stats are like a bikini. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital.

    So much negativity here.
Too many people discounting what both bev and Lin contribute.
    Stop being so emotional.

I'm not sure where to start. You do realize that simply saying "player X shoots 45% from the floor, therefore if he takes 30 shots every night he'll make at least 13.5 shots" isn't valid, right? Players that get hot (see Parsons last night) start getting double teamed. Defenses adjust. Did you notice how Chandler handled those double teams? Not well. Because he's not used to them. Players that don't consistently demand double teams normally aren't prepared to handle them. Dwight and James get doubled or help defense all the time. Lin and Chandler do not.

I agree Lin has strengths. He has a very quick first step and when he's decisive and confident he can be a very good scorer. However he hasn't been decisive or confident lately. Forget the unforced errors and giving up his dribble. It's the indecisive play that's keeping him on the bench. He could be a valid third scoring option, but he's not right now. So why should the coaching staff and team "play to a kids strengths" if he's arguably the fourth scoring option? Hell, the Rockets sometimes don't run enough plays for Dwight Howard, and he's a legitimate post threat.

I realize you want Lin to succeed. I want the Rockets to succeed. I root for and criticize Lin just like I do any other player. But you have to temper your expectations. I hope to see Lin become more consistent in his play and with his minutes. I'd like to see 15/6 from him with fewer unforced errors. If he blows up and scores 20, that's great. If we win. If he has 8/2 with 1 turnover, and we win, that's also great. But if you're expecting to see 25/10 Lin on this team you're going to be disappointed more often than not. Then the conspiracy theories start about McHale and the entire organization having a secret agenda to keep Lin down.

Occam's Razor my friend. The simplest explanation is most often correct.

I'm with you. Hard to say if that's on the level or not, but with some of the stuff we've read here it's not out of the question.

I'm a big Lin fan, and I really don't care if he starts or not. In fact, I'd love it if he were an integral part (i.e. Sixth Man) on a championship team. I'd rather have that than have him start on the Bucks or something.

But when I watched the Blazers game, Lin was the PG maybe 10% of the time. The fact that he'd often have to defer to BEVERLEY on playmaking duties when they were on the court at the same time was ridiculous.

The longer he stays in this system, the more his skills will stagnate or regress. Soon, there will be a new crop of promising young guards in the league with the 2014 draft. If Lin wants to stay ahead of them, he has to find a new situation. I hope he stays in Houston, but if so, the coaching staff has to change.

McHale is the new Vinny Del Negro. He's got a very talented team but they will probably consistently get knocked out in the 1st round, or maybe hit their ceiling in the 2nd round.

The bolded is all on Lin. That's just how he plays: passive & timid

Want a reminder? Watch game one of the '13 OKC playoff game.

So spurs , LAC game last year and Sixers game this year never count? Tell me which game he fails to turn on when harden is down.

linsanity was a PG, never a SG. He deliver star performance in Ast, constantly giving out above 7 Ast per game.

You can have opinion on him but try at least to take a look at the fact

We've seen numerous times when Lin's gotten benched for trying to be too assertive.

Yeah. First game everyone is passive. Lin actually showed up on the second game before he went down with a bone bruise and if you think that is a small injury then you should really spent a minute to understand what it is

He showed up in Spurs, LAC game last year. So you are just going to conveniently ignore all his good games and say he is just what he is in his first play off game? Not a excuse for Lin to play poorly but the selective memory is just amazing.

Sticking it the fact instead of selective memory will remove a lot of heated discussion on this forum.

But hey, that does not seem to be what is promoted here. When it comes to Lin, fact never matters.

Talk about selective memory. I've seen Lin get plenty of credit here when he plays well. You're letting yourself get trolled. Lin has had some great games. He's also had some stinkers. It happens. You can't blame last nights loss on Lin's limited minutes. There was a boatload of blame to go around.

I would suggest ignoring the people that you feel are disrespecting Lin. After a few months, check out your ignore list and re-evaluate.

    Clutch,

    1. Where did you get the data behind this table?

    2. What does this table look like now after a couple more games?
