Your argument is just getting weaker and weaker.

You acknowledge the salary cap and how it hampers team building then go on to basically say, well if there wasn't a cap they would want a better point guard. Well no freakin $#it. That's not how it works though.

We have seen examples before of teams with ball dominant wing players succeed without having high assist, high scoring point guards. Jordan's bulls, Kobe and shaqs lakers and the recent heat teams.

Like someone said earlier you are living in the past with positions having defined set roles that they have to adhere by to be considered useful. Teams can be built in a variety of ways and what you keep talking about is not how The Rockets have decided to do it.

I know what I wasn't eating. Hot dogs at Toyota Center during the 2nd round, conference finals or nba finals.

True my argument is not certain. But from my best ability to judge defensive ability lin has done overall well. Of course bball uses team defense. But the nba mostly utilizes man v man d. Yes zones and pnr complicate the matter but lin has been equal to bev or even superior to bev. There is a case to be made for lin being a better defender than bev, 2014

    Just a thought:

Could lins defensive efforts which has been brought up ever since he became a rocket, is their any chance some of it is attributed to playing with 2 top 5 defensive anchors in dwight and last year omer? I'm not attacking him but how would lin fair if say he was on Dallas and he had little to no support?

Since you can judge defense I'm imteretsed to hear your answer

Absolutely that is what the rockets decided to do with bev playing a derrick fisher type role
The only missing link is that these bulls never had the playmaker of a lin to add to the bulls or lakers roster. Fortunately these teans were domunant enough to win without a dynamic pg.

An argument can be made the pg position is the moat ever rated position in team sports. Abd while that argument can be made i still believe someone dynamic athletic like lin would only help the heat bulls or lakers dynasties if available. The conclusion can be stated that having lin starting would only help the rockets. But that is up for the rockets to decide. And decide they have already

    Exactly.

Keep it real and just tell him the truth - Bev has won the starting position rightfully so by all accounts and relegated Lin to a bench player albeit a decent one and probably a top 10 PG off the bench.

"Where does lin rank in bench PG's" lol

Truth bomb. Dude has been on my ignore for a while and I see all these other high quality posters quoting him and responding. The heat would start Lin over Chalmers?!? Give me a ****ing break, how on earth can you say something so baseless...

Posters like him also feel the need to put bev down.

I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, just to avoid the chance of miscommunication or misinterpretation. Unfortunately it ends up like this on occasion.

I think I need to shoot out a few PMs requesting a top 20 ignore list. It takes a lot for me to completely discount a poster but my list is growing rather rapidly.

It's like if I told you guys about the time Tracy McGrady led the Rockets to the Western Conference Finals.....

and you guys kept talking about it

No. This guy can't tell you what Patrick Beverly looks like, you can give him a picture of Klay Thompson and he'll say that's Patrick Beverly.

    Beware the fake fan!

The Rockets switch a whole lot, especially on the perimeter.... it is part of why a chuckle when someone looks at the box score only and says PLAYER A thrashed PLAYER B.... it no longer is the case, the game has really changed thanks to coaches like Thibs and Clifford.

Pm me and I'll send it over. You can still choose to take people off so it would be up to you at the end of the day. Makes this site wayyyy more readable.

Finish the job and wean yourself completely off the Rockets. You seem to think that being a fan depends on W-L record. Try the Miami Heat board.

There's no race problem around here. Yao was respected and loved as much as T-Mac, if not more. A wave of fans just showed up recently and started calling people racists. No one's going to care if they leave, even the owner of this site.

    Go.

Probably not as well. Case in point the knicks when melo and stat started together.
I do not have defensive stats of that year with lin being starter with melo and stat together but they got lit up by the spurs mavs bucks.

Lin d could not be covered by chandler only. Meli and stat dragged the team down defensively
