    I think both the Rockets organization and Lin could have handled this better.

    Situation with Bev/Howard and Lin/Melo is quite different; Rockets, media and everyone else have made it quite clear that Lin is to be jettisoned and he is on his way out. Its been pointed out repeatedly that he has a bad contract (balloon payment coming up), without the same degree of mention that he was playing on the cheap (relatively speaking) for the first two years of his contract.

    With that context, I feel Rockets could have handled this much better.

    At the same time, Lin could have handled this better himself. The tweet probably embarrassed the Rockets organization at an inappropriate time.

    There are still Lin "crazies" out there on the Internet, but I really do not see many of them on Clutchfans any more. Most are gone.

    Lin doesn't own that Jersey, the team does, they can assign that number to whomever they like, Lin is an employee, he has no say.

    Not necessarily. Sometimes you need league approval. It has to do with jersey sales of popular players.

    Examples:

    LeBron James files application for No. 6 jersey for the 2010-11 season


    McGrady files the necessary paperwork with the NBA to officially change his uniform number to 3


    Considering Lin's quasi iconic persona, there's reason to believe Lin is married to the number 7 if he remains a Rocket.

    Seriously this board has gone mad, where are all these Lin crazies?

    It's basically ppl who don't HATE Lin vs ppl who make him seen as the worst thing on this planet. Get a grip.

    Also, so let's write and create more threads over how something is overblown...:rolleyes:

    Lin is a good player (great bench player), who will give you everything he's got. He is amazingly inconsistent and not reliable to be given a starting position. Plus his bad contract, means he's got to go.

    The reason I don't hate him is bc he gave 100% all the time and was a good to his team, coach, and fans.

    Just goes to show Lin's (im)maturity ...

    he should have seen the writing on the wall when we said we would court a 3rd superstar and for that, need to clear cap space. He should focus on selling himself to his potential new teams.

    Those TOs in the POR series ... how can he live down those?
