I don't like this coaching carousel that Les is running. He seems to give every coach the boot after a while. Reminding me more and more of Jerry Jones with his ego-maniacal ways

coz he didn't want to change. he likes his players. but with this bunch, no way rox can be a contender so ra has to go.

Very nice read indeed, but I still don't get why coach is the first to go.

The rebuilding talk, I don't feel it's sincere, but rather forced - we are not in the playoffs, and we have no super stars. We can't say we are trying to contend, so we must be in rebuilding mode. For rebuild to work, you need to have a solid plan, and execute it nicely. I don't remember anyone has announced anything close to a plan. Are we tanking the next season or two, trying to get some nice young talents from lottery? Are we planning to get certain player(s) and build around him(them)? What are the plans for current team? Are players like Scola or KM going to wait for 2 years of tanking for that rebuild to happen?

I support rebuild, and want to see a rebuild. But I am only convinced when I see a clear direction or plan. I am puzzled how Les/DM can say that Rick doesn't fit before they have a clear rebuild plan, before we know the players we are rebuilding around or the style we are going to play.

There is no so-called rebuild specialist. All the talks about rebuild coach are just not so good coaches can be had for cheap.

it's not a youth movement like other posters said. if i am not wrong, morey is looking for a foundation so he can build around it. he will keep looking until he find one. it means changes on the roster will be a daily life for a while.

Along with Clutch's analysis, I think crash5179's speculation is really hitting the nail on the head.

Rick wanted to win each game and have consistency and continuity of personnel. Morey has to look longer term.

Morey seems to be getting a free ride on this. At some point this has to be on him.

Not going to win me friendship with Clutch, but he has to say this because Les and Morey would stop his access to Rockets organization if he didn't.

Obviously, business is business and Clutch has to protect his assets by not getting the FO mad.

Too bad in today's media world, there's very little truth because everything is about money in today's world.

Rick also had no contract for next year. That sort of makes it harder to look long term.

Well said, Clutch. As always, you are the voice of reason.

Now more than ever, DM and crew need the patience and support of Rockets fans as they start the search for a new coach and coaching staff.

Stand tall, stand proud, Rockets nation!

Or it could just be his opinion.

    Well written clutch.

When Yao went down at the beginning of the season, Adelmans fate as Rockets head coach was sealed. The T-Will, Thabeet trades were for the future and the franchise was moving in a different direction as evidenced by Battier and Brooks being moved.

I'm tired of barely having a winning record and if the franchise has to take a step back to take a few steps forward then Im all for it. I want to see them win big.

IMO releasing Adelman & bringing in a younger coach who will play the players DM wants played is saying "No more excuses!". I think DM has 2 or 3 more years to make strides in the post season.

I didn't hear him say that. Sure, he said he wanted stability. And he didn't like some moves Morey did. That's pretty standard coach thing. I don't know ANY coach would be different. If Morey and Les think they can find a coach who doesn't mind a constant changing roster, they are delusional. If they think then can find a coach who will say yes to every move Morey makes, they are delusional. I have more faith to Morey's intelligence than that.

But I find it incredulous of the notion that Adelman thinks this is a team he could take to win a championship. And I find it incredulous of the notion that Adelman didn't want to have better players.

And the fact that he would talk to Morey for several days before they decided to "mutually part ways" means that he still had hope that he and Morey could iron out some differences, and that he still wanted to come back. Otherwise why would they talk. If he really wanted to chase a championship somewhere else, he could have just said goodbye right after the season ended. I am pretty sure there would contending teams that would knock on his door.

You see, this doesn't make sense. I've been saying this and nobody has answered me. Does Adelman want to win a championship or not?

People say that he wants a ring that's why he's leaving. Then they turn around and say that Morey can't keep Adelman because they want to win big rather than just getting into the playoffs. Are they telling us that Adelman JUST WANTED TO GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS? Does that even make sense?

I think you're missing the point that Morey will sacrifice a playoff chase year of "rebuilding" in order to develop players and hope for better draft picks. The winning big comes after a hopefully short rebuilding period.

the key is this roster has no tiny bit possibility to be a contender even you add a defensive true center unless he is a force on both ends or close to yao. minor changes won't help this team. this team needs a huge makeup, that is, finding a superstar. until finding one, all other role players are irrelevant. you have to know your star player and then know what

It's like you read my mind, Clutch!

Adelman was a fantastic coach and he will be missed - but he needs to go where he can win now. And that isn't here.

Incidentally, I feel the same way about Scola. He's getting too old to spend his final years on a rebuilding team. I hope they send him to a contender.
