I think our first priority is to upgrade the PF spot so guys like LMA and Griffin won't go crazy on us. This was the main reason why we lost to the Blazers and Clippers. Then ideally it'll be an elite wing defender who has some range. Really wonder how Melo or Bosh fits either category.

Trading Lin is a no brainer to get the types of players above, but if this doesn't happen, PG is really not the biggest need to upgrade, with both Beverley and Lin complementing each other pretty well. I expect they will continue to get better, anyway.

Match Parsons contract and pray for All-Star caliber play next season.

He won't have that choice now. Parsons/Howard/Harden will have us capped out from now on. The trade must happen in 2014.

Well Bosh would pretty obviously fill that PF position, no? He can step away from the basket and hit out to 3 point range. He can defend 4s and may be the best big man PnR defender in the league. He can backup the 5 for limited minutes as well. He is pretty much an ideal fit for what ails the Rockets at the 4 with the ability to spot minutes at the 5.

Saying Bosh isn't a fix for the problems at the 4 would be like saying Andre Iguodola wouldn't be a fix the need for a wing defender.

FTR I think those two would be the perfect compliments for this team. If you could trade Asik, Lin, and Jones for no salary back, Bosh could opt out and sign for $15.8M and could trade Chandler (with his new deal) for Iggy. That will never happen, but that would be perfect and would still keep us out of the luxury.

    PG: Beverly (VET, Canaan)
    SG: Harden (Daniels)
    SF: Iggy (Garcia, Covington)
    PF: Bosh (DMo)
    C: Howard (Bosh, VET)

    Oh to dream...

Making pure speculation here, but team that may be willing to take Lin is Philly (maybe as a 2 guard). In Philly they are also rumored to be interested in Dante Exum. Is it remotely possible that Morey could pull a Lin the 25th pick and Asik, D-Mo or Jones for Michael Carter Williams?

I was saying All-Star caliber play out of Parsons. Not finding an All-Star next season.

Gasol is simply not the most prioritized fit. Our #1 need on this team to make our team the most devastating, the most unstoppable..... is spacing. Gasol doesn't give us that. He's a great player. He's a championship quality player. He'd be tremendous as the third big in a 3-man rotation of bigs at the 4/5 spots. But we've got to get our 3rd superstar before we can look at acquiring guys like Pau.

Agree. But if we can't get 3rd superstar like Melo or Love, we can trade Asik&Dmo for draft pics , then sign Paul Gasol free agent and sign an elite defensive SF/SG , we can still compete to win champion

Somehow I feel it all doesn't matter as long as McHale will not go with a deeper rotation than 7-8 guys. Morey will be forced to get a third star because even with some veterans on the bench, I'm not sure will use them.

    This.....

The Rockets biggest issue was spacing last year on the offensive end. Often times "hero ball" or "sticky ball" cited by fans was a result of poor spacing.

Someone like Bosh or Anthony or Love really opens up the court... Harden has more of an open lane.... Howard doesn't get as many double teams and more put backs.... Beverly and Parsons get more open 3's.
