Can you trade player who is recently extended? If not, one of the reasons might be that AB has been in part of the trading plan, e.g. for Melo.
By not extending Brooks he might become a more valuable as a trade asset as a restricted free agent in the new CBA. If the new 2nd tier contracts (after max) goes down to MLE amount which has been speculated. As a restricted free agent the team who owns Brooks's rights can match any non-Max deal offered to Brooks which will be capped at what is now the MLE.
Yeah, this is fair......hit and run......and I get run over.....DD flatter than a pancake....lol. I had it higher, was messing around to see what happens if I gave it a 1...... But I would be happy if all thread votes were public......are you now in agreement? I will change my vote based upon what I think of the article's content. A "4" everyone...just to be clear, because of the left out part about Melo being able to opt in....and what that would mean. DD
Fair enough. But you have to admit that the possibility that Melo does not exercise his ETO makes this issue all the more thought-provoking.
Look, I like your articles, and think being publicly called on the carpet for a rating is fairly uneccessary (unless it is done to everyone), but don't you think that when you call someone a LIAR they are not going to rate your thread that highly ? Dude, that was way uncalled for.... True, but both options should have been discussed in your article, I would love to know your thoughts, maybe an edit? BTW - I do find it funny that I get called out, when there are scores of people that give me a 1 star rating on my vids, even before watching them....now that is hypocrisy.... Now all the folks with a grudge against me are going to come in for the free shot....wooohoooo ! DD
Maybe if you stopped saying things that reduce the quality of the garm, like this People would actually give you the benefit of the doubt.
Calm down, man. I thought the smiley that I intentionally added at the end was enough to convey the "just kidding around" aspect of my post. Sorry you took it so seriously. No offense was intended, bro. Nah, I'm not going to edit it. The discussion in this thread should cover it. The blog entry was merely intended to spark THIS discussion. Agreed that "haters gonna hate". Btw, I have NEVER given one of your vid threads a bad rating.
I am not going to hold a grudge Bima....but if you read it again that smiley comes after the comment about my usual charm, not the Liar part... Still reads like a complete rip..... I give threads good and bad ratings.....since the ratings are eye candy anyway...heck folks rate mine 1 star just because it is me.....so I just sort of say....fine.....I will join the crowd. Anyway, we are cool, I appreciate what you bring to the table, and how you go about it. I think you are one of the more knowledgeable guys on the boards. Keep up the good work. Now, back to my getting my arse kicked ....lol. DD
I almost exploded after reading that. Don't dig a hole DD! There is no malicious intent in anything that was said. No need to send anyone into a guilt trip. Your enemies are not here, they are 15 year olds who already bought T-Mac jerseys. (just kidding) Your hand was caught in the cookie jar. A simple "Whoops" will suffice.
DD, dont worry about thread ratings. Do what u do for your love of the rockets and not by some thread rating. I dont think i've ever rated a thread and i read every post in every thread. If there is something worth discussing, i comment, but if its useless thread by someone who tries to make funnies all the time, i just keep moving. Bimathug, to me, whether or not carmello will resign shouldnt be a factor if this is in fact all in. The rockets traded for tracy and he was in a similar situation. Of course cost has something to do with it if he's not going to get an extension, but like you mentioned, if nothing else, the rockets could sign and trade him at the end of the year if he wants to get to ny. If it were me, i would try to get anthony and iggy by almost any means neccessary. The only guys for me they couldnt have is brooks, scola, and yao. Everyone else would be game as long as i could get the right combination. Even then, those guys could be had also for the right price. I think if you truly think that you have a 1st rate organization and a real chance to win a title, the lure of that will trump new york, jersey,or the bulls. Players arent dumb when looking at title contenders. They can look at a roster and look at who theyre playing against and see if the team is true or not. I would go get iggy 1st, then go get anthony. The sixers will probably want expirings and young players and denver will want a really good player picks/players. To me, both situations are worth it.
If you all are done fighting now, we need to discuss what assets Morey could trade Brooks for that could be pushed to Denver in the Melo deal. I am thinking about three teams, Charlotte, Philly, and Toronto, that could possibly make a market for Brooks. Philly - moving out Iggy for expiring and Brooks, with us taking back Lou Williams salary for the trade exception, we can in turn send Iggy and other assets to Denver for Melo. Toronto- they have Jack and Calderon. They may possibly be interested in a salary dump that would net them Brooks, but I don't think too likely. Charlotte - obviously could use an upgrade at the point. Would they be willing to send Wallace to Denver and so we could take on Melo after sending them possibly Scola or an expiring, a first rounder, Budinger, and Hill or Patterson. Any other suggestions on how to turn Brooks into trade assets that Denver would be interested in?
You want to move our starting power forward that's averaging 27/14 while making $7.8 million this season? I'm not on board with that at all. Scola's not the problem.
No, they will not have use for him. The point of getting rid of Melo is for them to rebuild. A 30 year old PF who's played more games than an average American player is not what they want. If they want to stay relevent, they would want a SF instead. They would start the conversations with Bud, Hill or Patterson. Plus Brooks. I do like the idea of a three way in which we send out Brooks to CHA, Wallace to DEN. and Melo to HOU. A win-win for all.
Denver will part with Melo for a bag of beans when the Trading Deadline comes around and he still hasn't re-upped...especially if somehow they are not in the top 3 of the western conference. At that point in time, you can offer up picks, maybe Chase, and some salary dump and Denver will take it.
You DO realize that Denver has little incentive to make a trade right now, right? And the Nuggets will want a LOT more for Melo now than they might expect to get come February. Be patient. It's not only prudent, but the alternative (overpaying now) is flat-out stupid.
