A while ago I questioned the relevance of the team. The word leftovers seems to apply. First with the coach selection, and now with free agents. Leftovers... Or sloppy seconds (thirds, fourths, ...).

4 years - 80m for a journeyman backup 3pt PF, that is not value.

    :)

Do you think he is a journeyman backup PF with D'Antoni?

Should we downplay the rest of his game? The post fall away and the Dirk ironleg step backs? He is a good deal better than your average Channing Frye stretch 4, imo.

Yup, or Chandler Parsons, journeyman 15 and 6 guy, a hundred million... ;)

With the cap increase, this is the equivalent to a 13 million dollar a year contract, and probably way less next year. DM has run the numbers as usual.

I would rather have parsons at 100 mil than Anderson. They were both always hurt. Parsons is 50 40 guy at 18 pts who can handle the ball. Anderson is a guy who can shoot.

Yeah, but Parsons is a huge douche.

Who can play basketball better than Anderson - which is all I care about.

The point was that we were seeking "Value" players and clearly that got tossed right out the window.

With the contracts being given out... If the Rockets truly wanted Llull they could sign him.

In the past, it would've been the full MLE in the first yr as a max for international players. Even then, teams were very reluctant to go that high. I don't think the Rockets ever offered that to Llull.

This free agency, contracts start at 12M in the first year...

With Harden forming a super team in Golden State, these signings look even worse to me. Fine, I'm willing to roll the dice on Eric Gordon because he's a talented freak dead eye shooter and $13 mil is apparently not a lot anymore. But the Ryan Anderson contract is just madness. How on earth are we gonna be able to justify that in three years with no championship to show for it and James long gone?

Harden is obviously not the draw people though he was, Pringles is obviously not the draw they were saying he is. The organization is not thought of as elite anymore. So why do people think it's a better strategy to keep star chasing rather than rebuild?

And why are people simply content to make the playoffs? Aren't you tired of 1st round exits? Aren't you tired of pretending to contend instead of walking on the court and knowing we are the better team?

We need to start doing things differently. okc had to risk losing Durant for nothing; they are knocking at the doorstep of the championship. Houston? We barely made the playoffs and we replaced our 2nd best player and best defender with two big question marks. We have a choice.

Even if we don't entertain the notion of trading harden, we should still be rebuilding; targeting younger upside players; trading players for picks; etc... We need to take more chances on the draft; look at Cleveland: Thompson and Irving and Wiggins are the reason why Lebron is there and they are champs.

I only hope Les comes to his senses soon before it's too late.

But Les won't. And we'll continue to be mediocre

He is better, but not as much better as you painfully wish he would be.

It's pretty incredible that Gasol got $15 million a year and Ryan Anderson got $20 million. Who would you rather have signed?

Despite that, I do think management will make a move or two -- a trade most likely -- that will make this offseason look a lot better. People are overreacting. It's too early.
