Like many of you, I'm on board with Reed Sheppard if they stay at 3. However, IF (and that's a big IF) they can get PREMIUM future draft assets - not just a lotto-protected pick - then I'd be on board trading down into the 6-9 range and pick up a guy like Devin Carter or Dalton Knecht.

I am not "anti-Sheppard". I am pro-championship roster building and want premium assets for a star trade.

If they stay at 3 and take Sheppard, I'd be good with that.

(I said all this on the pod but want to make sure posters who didn't watch/listen understand my position.)

    Ware has CWood allegations.

Daron Holmes you can find a lot of scoutinf report vids on him on youtube. Seems like a nice player but if we ended up getting him I think Rox fuxjed up somehow.

I like Devin Carter more than Castle. Castle has that diva mentality and his "I dont care about reality I want X" gives me Westbrook vibes.

i have been watching the Rockets since 1976 and this is the first time since Ralph, Hakeem and Yao, that i have a very strong opinion on a draft. I really want to stay put, and draft Shepard. The stats line up with what we do. I think we have plenty of draft capital for the future trades and we have young players we can entice with...just get Shepard!

I totally agree. We have draft capital. We don't have shooters. Get one.

Sure, maybe with his demand to only play PG, but for a lot of these kids that's just posturing to get into a situation where they get immediate PT and don't have to wait to prove their worth.

It would be different if this kid hadn't just been, one of, if not the most integral part of a championship team for his college squad. Westbrook never got close to winning a title in college and had MVP caliber seasons to be all for not with no help in OKC. His diva like attitude was more of him being brash on and off the court. You could see it in his interviews and his on court interactions alike.

I don't think Carter and Castle are quite on the same level production wise coming into the league but my opinion don't mean sh** so who knows.

Yeah but Rox are knee deep in talent if somebody is already posturing like this before he even got drafted he prob wont be happy to spend half his rookie year in GLeague like Amen and Cam last year.

Castle def has a ton more upside than Carter but wanting to be the pg when he wasnt a pg his entire college career kinda reminds me of Dwight wanting to play like Hakeem instead of Clint Capela. In contrast Amen never even played PF or set screens before but went out and killed it anyway.

Exactly why we're making trades to consolidate draft picks and extend them out to multiple years. This isn't directed at you but that's what everyone is even b****ing about now in the GARM.

Nonetheless, I feel like whomever we pick will be a waiting in the wings type player. Whether it's:

Reed - waiting for FVV to either finish his contract or be traded away
Clingan - waiting for Apli to get injured
Castle - also waiting for FVV to either finish his contract or be traded away AND Amen to fall off or get injured
Buzelis - will be playing behind; Jabari, Tari, Uncle Jeff, Tate, Cam and Amen (to a certain extent) struggling to get frontcourt minutes

No matter who we select, we've already got a guy that has either a higher ceiling or more ability to contribute than they do. Which is why I believe Reed coming off the bench and eventually becoming a starter is our best bet this draft.

I agree, thats why if you looked at my earlier posts I was not a fan of Sheppard because I think whoever we pick is gonna be a benchwarmer and in that case we should pick someone with a higher ceiling or at least multiple positions.

However I prefer Sheppard over Clingan or Sarr. I think zero range bigs are a dime a dozen, at least Sheppard's shooting makes him unique and valuable.

    Reed can’t play defense well.
Amen will never be able to shoot.
