In the last scenario- if Memphis wins and the Rockets and Spurs lose, we are the 6th seed and play Memphis. Memphis would be the 3 seed and win the division. Please double check this. In a 3 way tie they have a better conference and division record than the Spurs and Rockets

the last scenario on this list is what we should be rooting for, it means we would only have to face one of SAS/GSW

Somehow, tomorrow's game feels like game 7 for us. A must win to have future hopes

If Utah (38-43) wins this game, they will be tied with Phoenix (39-43) in the standings but will be awarded 10th place since they have the better division record. They're thinking draft lottery right now, no incentive for them to try and win this game. Expecting a blowout.

That SAS-NOP game will be fun to watch. Predicting an upset.

    Hack-An-Asik?

Only guy shooting in the 50's for them free throw percentage wise.

    To summarize,

If the Rockets win, depending on if the Spurs win or lose, Rockets either 2 or 5.

If the Rockets lose, depending on if the Grizzlies win or lose, Rockets either 5 or 6.

In a 3 way tie, the 2nd tie breaker (after division winner) is better winning percentage in all games among the tied team.

In that tie breaker, the order would be SA, Memphis, then Houston.

At least this season we have an excuse. Only one playoff series is set going into the last day (cavs celtics)

Oh god, I thought yesterday the chart that was posted had no scenario where we faced the Spurs!

So yeah, I'm back to my original hope....I don't care who we play as long as it's not the Spurs in the first round.

odds are that we win so the grizz game doesn't matter.

hopefully the spurs lose so we can actually win the division for once.

Asik shot .590 at the line this year, which, on average, would result in 1.16 points per possession in a hacking scenario. That's significantly more than the New Orleans offense generates per possession (1.053 points).

So no, Asik's not quite bad enough to warrant hacking; not mathematically, anyway. I suppose there are other factors, such as taking the ball out of X player's hands or extending rest time for your own players.

Can we clarify the Murphy's Law scenario? If we lose, the Spurs lose, and the Grizzlies win, then our pick falls to #18 and we play the Spurs on the road in round 1? Is that correct?

Best case scenario. The Rockets win, the Spurs lose, and the Grizzlies lose. That would put us in 2nd, Clippers in 3rd, Spurs in 5th, and Grizzlies in 6th. Meaning we not only get Dallas in Round 1 and home court through 2 rounds, but we also avoid both the Warriors and Spurs til the WCF and only have to beat one of them(or neither should there be an upset or two) in order to reach the Finals.

Honestly, that's not that far-fetched. The Pelicans and Pacers have everything to play for, and the Rockets have no excuse to not beat the Jazz at home.
