Sorry gents, I had a whale of a long night... full of booze, women, hijinks and drama... I'm just a no go today.
Apologies for leaving early. That really was the 2nd time I've played in 4 years and I was dying after about half an hour out there. Will be around for another week so I'll be back. And it was cool to finally meet Kam, who blocked me.
No worries man - I was done after the last game that I played. I thought i was going to toss my cookies all over the court. Not a good idea to play on an empty stomach.
I took some vids on my cell phone and am currently trying to figure out how to get them off there and on the computer. Great meeting the new guys and seeing some of the old ones again. I played much better the first couple games, but that heat and my poor conditioning settle in pretty fast right now. I'll improve the latter over time and the former will improve over time without my help. EDIT: Well, apparently my phone came with a USB cable for exactly this purpose, but I'll be damned if I know where it is. So unfortunately no videos from this week. Sorry guys.
Yeah it was good to meet some of you guys although I'm not sure who some of you were on the board. Anyways, I'll be out there again sucking it up next week. Hopefully my conditioning will be a bit better and I won't be gassed after 5 minutes.
about how many people show up? is it enough to run 5 on 5 full court? also do you have to wait your turn to play. How come y'all don't just play later on when the sun goes down; what time do the lights come off? sorry just curious
Lately there have been 12-16 people showing up, I'd say. The goals are on either end of 3 tennis courts (6 goals total) so there is no waiting (assuming you have enough to run another game). Being that the goals are on tennis courts, there are nets preventing any full court play. Even if we took a net down, the court is still about 20 feet longer than regulation, and no one is going to run full on that. There are no lights. When the sun goes down, game's over.
Peak attendance yesterday was 8 people, but I don't think we ever ran 4s because there was always at least one person sitting out. But that was without moes or CCR or some of the other regulars and we still had a good turnout.
Yeah, there were 8 of us yesterday afternoon. I think that was a decent show. 2 to 4 old regulars didn't show, plus new regular noobs didn't show up. If old and/or new regulars show up, that put us at around near 12-15 which is good enough to run two simultaneously.
I'm seeing a 20% chance of rain tomorrow, which is low enough for me to plan on playing assuming we get enough. Anyone else up for some ball tomorrow?
I should be down... depends on how much reading I get done tomorrow during the day. What time? 5:00 pm again?
The Texans are playing tomorrow night... I don't know how thats going to effect any possible turnout...
Ehh its just the second game of the preseason. They played last saturday at the same time (7pm) and I don't think it affected the turnout tremendously
